I just got notification from Fiero Parts that a new run of Borla Exhaust systems will be produced. If anyone else has been considering this system, you may want to get in touch with them. The email I got is as follows.
Hello to all,
Well, we have reached our magic number for the second run of the Borla exhaust systems (without tips this time) What we did last time was take money after we had placed the order, well we got burned so as I have been telling all of you in the past this is how we have to do it this time. We will need you to e-mail us ASAP please! with the following information:
The number of systems you are ordering. Home phone # Work phone # The address you want the system sent to, a business address is better and cheaper for you. We will return by e-mail your final cost (419.99 for the system) with shipping and ins. included. (15.00 to 30.00 depends on your location. At this point we need payment in full by money order. Why a money order, this way we know we have the unit sold to you and if some say they are sending the money and we don't get it, and we fall below our magic number for the order we will just return your money order to you and not place the order. We have put a lot of time into this project for very little return, (that's OK) we want to provide Fiero owner's with this product, since we have an exclusive and you will never find it any place else (unless we sell the contract) we need to do it this way, last time we ended up with 7 extra systems on top of our 10 over. Thank you for understanding.
I spoke to the person in charge at Borla production today they can have to systems to us by March 17th if we place the order by Tuesday Feb 1st this will give every body time to send in there payment.
Thank you,
Timothy Perrigo Fiero Parts and Appraisals One Fiero Drive Old Orchard Beach, Maine 04064 1-800-255-3437 M-F 8am to 10 pm EDT. www.fieroparts.com Don't forget this system is all stainless steel and will last a lifetime or two!
B&B Triflo also make an exhaust for the Fiero. Its available through NOPI here in Atlanta and through any B&B retailer. for $650ish. Polished Stainless. Dyno Tuned. I worked at NOPI for about a year.. i'll get the part number.. and post it in a few... $400 is CHEAP for a nice exhaust! Not sure if you've paid attention to any of the Exhaust kits on these hondas that annoy everone. but they start at $585 and go WELL over a thousand bucks. The Remus exhaust on my Alfa 164 was $450 and its not a full cat-back, just a rear section! Two hours at the muffler shop for mandrel bent 2.5" pipe and a Flowmaster (30 Series or Delta Flow) is worth EVERY penny.

Fiero Shop!! What's up with the system that you are working on? Do wou have the dyno printout yet? What about the price is it going to be less than this Borla system?
I'm with 1FST2M6 on the flowmaster I don't think you can beat the price. but if you just want the "Look" and have the $$$$ ya polished stainless is the way to go.
This borla system is a pretty tempting offer. I may just end up doing this. Does anyone on here have one of the Borla systems? Heard one? I just want to know how they compare to the stock system.

I have one that I won in a raffle in Rutland,Ma at a Fiero meet.IMHO, they are a very nice piece of work. It seems to me to have a little throatier growl than the stock system.Very pleasant tho. Mine came with the square tips as well.Pricy but I give it a "Thumbs Up"
The borla system will have the same "growl" as a flowmaster but will not be as loud due to the fabrication process they use and the materials they use. In their mufflers there is a Fiber-glas packing along with the special welds/baffles to deaden the sound wave. The shape of the chambers makes it "growl" the packing makes it deeper and not so punchy. The sound is more consistant. (if you ever pulled up next to a mustang with an H pipe and a Flowmaster kit you'll note the exhaust sounds... not all of them can be heard in your car but the high pitch ones you can... borla has manufactured thiers to not resonate in either your car or the car next to you.)
Sounds like the Borla might be what I'm looking for. I have the stock exhaust right now. It sounds great, but I wan't something just a tad louder, and if possible maybe a little lower growl.

The attachment is on the outlet side of the cat, so I guess the answer is yes.assuming (oh how I hate that word) that you are referring to a 3.4 in a Fiero and that you are also using the pre cat exhaust configuration.

Some delay in posting but I wanted to put in a word for Borla and Tim. I have one of the original Borlas installed. Impressed everyone that heard mine at the Columbus show. Excellent throaty sound, nice fit and great look. I believe Tim sold out at the show after he demo'd mine. As for the polished SS, why? Do you plan on ever driving the vehicle?

I think $420 is not a bad price for the BORLA system at all! I've looked through the Fiero Store catalog - stock cat back systems are $180, Ocelot aluminized pipe cat backs are $270. If you compare the price of Borlas on other cars - prices range from $400 to over $1000!!!! As I plan to upgrade to a 3.4L with headers, I think the BORLA exhaust will "complete" the exhaust system very nicely...
Just to put in my .02 about the Borla - I think it is a great system. I had it on my red 87 GT-R (see Scott Haas calendar). Before I put the system on I was running straight pipes! It is a little quiet for me but has a nice idle and low end growl. I didn't notice much of a performance difference VS the straight pipes. I also cut the Borla tips off and added Megs duals - it looked VERY intimidating. SXM.

You can get the Borla exhaust at Dason Auto Concepts Inc. 908 W. Hyde Park Blvd Inglewwod, CA 90302 Phone (310) 677-7185 Fax (310) 677-2630 This is where I got mine. It was the last one on the shelf but he said he could order some more one at a time "You don't have to wait for him to get a certain number for him to order one he said". THIS ONE HAS THE TIPS AND COSTS $525. Here is a picture of the exhaust system I got; you can’t see the Borla name on it because of the glare from the camera flash. The pipe in the back were the catalytic converter goes is a cheap pipe from the Fiero store. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=588057&a=4294470&p=19233085

I bought two from Tim during his first run of Borla systems. I had one put on my 88GT with a 3.1L, plus a new cat. This system ended up on my 87 GT when Twin Lakes Fiero was doing some work on both of my Fieros. The sound is quiet on the inside and a lot more throaty on the outside. Unless you stomp on the gas, then it is loud on the inside too.
The replacements were done because the cars original exhaust system was rusting out(12 or 13 year old systems)and the cats were collapsing on the inside.
The second Borla will go back on my 88 after a 3.4 transplant.
You can go to Midas and pay $200/year to replace the cheap pipes they put on or get the stainless systems anf if they last 5 years, your still ahead of the game.
