I am having trouble opening the hood on my 87 Fiero. The casing that encloses the cable is split and the part that holds the cable to the release lever is also broke. I have tried using pliers, but to no avail.
Any ideas on how I can get the good to release so I can replace the cable?

Pull the cable while someone else is pushing down over the latch. pushing down unloads the latch some. usually helps.

also there is a B cable hidden in the release handle bracket. take down the whole handle to access it. 3 screws hold the bracket to the dash.

Yeah, that extra pull should be in plain sight, it's held there by a little clip, in my 87 it is at least.

I never really understood that secondary release. I assume that it just ties into the cable that goes to the latch, so if that cable broke, wouldnt you be SOL too?

Enlighten me!

My release handle is broken and I have to pull on the cable itself. Itg pulls it open though fairly easy. Where is the best place to get a new release handle? Is it an easy install?

no, the a and b handles each have their own braided strands of wire. one can break clear in 2 and other still work.
Enlighten me!
