Hey Yall,
I was wantn' to change my speedometer and Tachometer calibrations.

1. I found a website that shows to change the capacitor on the tach board in order to make it register properly for a v8. This site http://www.thefieroclub.net/osg/tachmod.html shows .01, .0082 and .0064 uf capacitors for 4,6 and 8 cylinders. The only capacitor I found on my board was a .047 uf I believe. I will confirm this at lunch. I once found another website that showed a picture of the board and capacitor but I cannot find the site now. Can anyone help with this?

2. I wanted to change the calibration of my speedometer so I could use the metric numbers for mph. This would make a 140 mph out of an 85 mph speedometer if I can find out what component to change. Does anyone have any info on any of the modifications I seek?

84Bill,
Didn't have time to do any paint stuff this weekend. I was busy helping a friend build a VW engine for his fathers dunebug and another friend with a tune up and brake replacement on Mercury. I plan on getting around to the paint more when my brother has time to help. He has knowledge in this area but I wanted to hear from other experienced folks like yourself so as not to screw anything up. I'll try to get some pics when I can. In between times I have this extra dash I plan on modifying, as my earlier post states, if I can find the information I need to do it. You know how it is. I got more irons in the fire than I know what to do with. I just pick out the hottest one and go ta whupn' on it.

You need to modify the osc circuitry. Usually putting a different xtal in will make subtle changes but to go as far as you want to go with yours it may take more.

Check Oliver's pages or drop him an e-mail. He seems to be the electronic Guru.
