Nice! Nice! The only thing I don't like about those engines is that intake snorkel. Looks like for an I4. But who cares with that torque Please give us more details. How about the exhaust? Are you using the 4.9 injection? Fired up already?
I will be using a 1993 seville 4.9 with 85 deville exhaust manifolds and crossover, removed lower trunk for exhaust. ECM is from a 94/95 Deville to run the Caddy PFI. Transmission will be stock 125 auto. The engine is now completely in, cooling system done and filled (with caddy pelets), fuel system done. Remaining work is fine wiring for ecm and exhaust. Passkey bypass circuit built and ready. Exhaust will be from a F body with duals. Motor mounts are my own and will have an upper torque mount.

Is the removal of lower trunk a must-do for the 85 manifolds? I am hoping to make the system as "stock" looking as possible, even going as far as custom pipes to the Fiero muffler, and stock tips out...
Is there a clearance problem?

It's not a must, it's just we thought the lower end of the trunk is so useless, we would use the space for a good exhaust system. To use the factory exhaust, you have to weld an outlet pipe on the crossover pipe. That would be the Bubbajoe way, I choose to do the Rockcrawl way.

I'll add your name to the list - we'll have a smile contest to see who likes it the most This is what Pete will be bringing on the cruises this summer:
Today, after having an argument with the Passkey II theft system the 4.9 PFI started and ran. Exhaust is in except for the tips. Now for the guage wiring.

I work at the E test facility but seriously, since it has a motor in it that did not come available from factory it must be tested under the "hot rod" clause. Meaning it must meet 1980 emissions requirements at the tailpipe (not hard to do with an engine) No if I had a done up 2.8 I could not go under hot rod cause the car came with 2.8, also if I had a 4cyl and put in a 2.8 I still could not put it as hot rod.

Interesting... Does the "hot rod" classification place any restrictions upon miles you can drive, etc., etc.?
Sounds like a hell of a loophole, for those so inclined. Wish they'd do that, here in Atlanta.

I saw the car in person, and may I say it is beautiful!
PBJ- I'm wondering if you know of any work that had been done to the 2.8 (from your car)that I bought from you last month, as I'm going to start getting it ready for my 86 Gt, and would like to know of anything that I do not need to replace-also do you know if the timing has been done? Any other info such as compression, would be great!

Kinda looks like you forgot to hit the brakes in time.

Well, just to clarify, that's our new twin engine SeaDoo jet boat that you can drive this summer eh I'm looking forward to those cruises this summer. But as for the pic, it's the only way we could save on storage for the boat and the car. Rather inventive of PBJ eh. . . It wasn't a fault with those Grand Am brakes after all
