I posted the other day about my car stalling when I shift from park to reverse, or park to drive, and got back that I should maybe look at the IAC
Can this be checked or cleaned before I "blindly" install a new one?

Thanks,
Michael

Yes, the IAC can be cleaned and checked with the proper equipment - a can of break clean and a rag. More often than not the problem lies within the bore of the IAC bore in the throttle body where carbon deposits will prevent the IAC from performing correctly. Here is an article I wrote about the subject....Idle Mystery

Of course another procedure I would perform is to disconnect the 4 wire pigtail connector going to the TCC switch in the transmission. If this switch should fail the car will stall whenever put into gear, much like a manual transmission will when shifting without a clutch.

So, basicly remove the IAC and clean it up, remove the carbon deposits, re-install it?

One more vote for looking into the TCC first.
