After asking them one too many times to make the headers, they have decided to make headers for the 3.4 DOHC engines. They are going to start with the first gen motors 90-95 and maybe someday do up the 96-97. They would like to get 5 orders first so that they know that they have them sold. They are looking at doing them up the same style as their 3800 ones, that will follow the original Fiero exhaust pipes going toward the front of the car up over the trans down and around exiting out back, this will allow for a more stock looking (Cat included) system. I have the second gen motor (96-97) so i cant use the headers yet, but im hoping that the rest of the 3.4 swaps may take advantage of this and order them, then they may make the second gen ones soon.
Email them if you have any ???? about price and how long it will take etc...
Im just trying to get the ball rolling.
Thanks
Rob

In the current thread about exhaust clearance of the 3800SC Xover pipe around the Isuzu external throwout arm, there's mention that the arm also has interference with WCF 3800 headers.
I sincerely hope that someone from WCF is reading these threads, as that demonstrated a design oversight on their part. Headers for a swap like this should work with any transmission that can be used in the swap.

Will, good point, the guys at WCF told me that they have two 3.4 engines and have a Isuzu trans as well. My understanding was that they were going to mate up the engine and trans and start to bend the tubs, but you are 100% correct, each trans combo should be checked first.
I just got off the phone with chris from west coast fieros. He said that unless there has been alot of work done to the motor you really dont need the headers. He said he could make up a y-pipe that would bolt to 2 front manifolds and you could use the stock exhaust routing and it would only be $200-300 dollars instead of $600 for the headers.

Not to hijack the thread, but has West Coast considered making manifolds or headers for the 4.9L swap? It would seem that there would be quite a market for them. I've seen their 3.8L headers and while there are some compromises, you can't design a single product that will make EVERYBODY happy, but it's nice to know they are available...I'd rather have products like that on the market than none at all.

I concor! aren't the xhaust ports on a 3.4DOHC HUGE and so is the manifold!?!?

Yea, but the 96-97 cant be done that way, you cant put another front mani on the back, i tried, that is why i have a brand new mani for sale on ebay, im out $75.00 because i was told that it could be done. If you have the first gen motor you can do it, not the second gen motor. (SEE PIC)
I have thought about doing the same thing but putting a plate on the exhaust out on the rear mani, and building a "Y" pipe that connects to the front and then down the original way. Modifying the rear mani with a plate is just going to suck though, the flow has to go down to the plate, then back up to the Y pipe, i dont think it will flow well.
I just need a set of shorty pipes, i am going to have them made locally, i live close enough to the heart of NASCAR, there are a lot of fab shops close.

Hey rob when its time to get your exhaust done.. I would go see Kevin at Muffler King on Jefferson Ave here in Newport News. I know its about 30 min away from you but he is fiero friendly and has done several Hiperf Fiero/kit car exhausts. Kevin is VERY good at what he does. I am dropping off my 4.9GT in the next day or to to have the exhaust done.
