As the subject asks, has anyone dealt with ARI brand calipers for '88 Fiero? I want to make sure these guys are rebuildinding aluminum bodied calipers, and not those crappy cast-iron calipers.

If I may ask, who said that the calipers are aluminum bodied. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is the first
that I've heard of this??
Please fill me in? Thanks........

88 calipers are aluminum on the piston side half only. The outer bridge that holds the outer pad, the part you can see with the wheel on, is all steel. That's why that part needs to be painted or powder coated or it will rust and turn orange. If you have big open rims it looks like hell after a couple months untreated

Only $30/each. The Fenco brand which I know rebuilds the aluminum bodied calipers is $70/each. But, with no definite answer about ARI, I'm going with what I know and getting the Fenco's.

Thanks.

Below are 88 caliper images. The caliper housing and bridge appear to be made from different metals.

I think all pre 88-Fiero caliper housings were aluminum. Just read all the posting about stuck bleeder screws caused by dissimilar metals. The brake recall bulletin even mentions the aluminum caliper housing/steel bleeder screw problem.

However, both pieces on my 88 calipers seem to be made from cast iron. Oddly there is no rust on the bridge piece but there is on the caliper body so the metals are somehow different. (edit to correct info)
