As you know, I goofed on my 3.4 swap and put an unbalanced 86 2.8 flywheel on a 3.4 pushrod motor. I'm checking junkyards and car-part.com now looking for another flywheel so I can minimize down time, but I'm having a little trouble. Neither the 88 Fiero or the Grand Prix with the 3.4 DOHC are common in the junkyard.
So what other GM cars had the 2.8 with the balanced flywheel or other engine with a balanced flywheel that will work for my application?

Dont quote me on this, but i HEARD most, if not all GM 60* V6s were neutrally balanced after 88. Dont remember where I heard that, and Im not presenting it as fact, but merely suggesting you look into it.

since i need to resurface the on my 87 GT, could i simply get e neutrally balanced one? the price is almost the same as what i would pay to get it reworked... question is... would it fit?

no, it wont work, yours is not balanced neutrally, if you put a neutral flywheel on your motor, it will vibrate apart.
the weight is on your motor to counter balance the crank.

Didn't he say up top that he now has a 3.4? Unless I'm mis-reading it...
If so, it'd be a neutral balance would it not?
Oh, as for the original question - check a Hollanders interchange manual. There's a WHACK of them that will fit. Some Isuzu's used them, the 2000 Sunbird 2.2L, etc etc.

Mosh_man was answering pft_217's question. pft_217 says he has an 87 2.8 engine. The 87 2.8 engine is not internally balanced so the neutrally balance flywheel will not work with it, it will be detrimental to the engine's life. The 88 2.8 engines are internally balanced and required a neutrally balanced flywheel. The other engines that share this are the 3.1 and 3.4, as the used the same crank.

get one from an early 90's corsica, beretta, or S-10. Those should all work. Make sure the clutch used on the flywheel was 9 1/8" not 8 1/2". You can check this by measuring with a ruler. You can see where the clutch burned into the flywheel. Ask for several of them, often you can find one that is in excellent shape and will not require resurfacing.
