As the topic sugests, the spring isn't working or something's missing. I have no idea what I'm looking for, so any help/guidance would be useful. A picture or two might be nice because I didnt even know I had a Blazer MC until I went to joedirt's for parts and he told me I had one (he has stock and I now know what they look like)

One of your tortion springs may have broken. I recently replaced a spring on my '85. Some previous threads on this forum were a big help.

I got a new one from Ed Parks. Just tell him what accessories (wing, luggage rack) are on your decklid so that he knows which one to send you.

I think all the springs are the same. There are 3 holes in the mounts, by using different holes you get different tension.

jeez, I seem to be having that effect on a lot of things lately... the mower, my PC....

No, there are 3 different torsion springs. The decklid no wing option is red on the ends, the luggage rack is blue and spoiler white. ( I think.)

You can try to readjust the springs.... I tried, and they fell off their mounts and I had one hell of a time putting it all back together, which included my dad having a senior moment and putting his knee right through one of my tail lenses. If I recall correctly, your car had a luggage rack removed. I know I don't have any extras, because the ones on my 84 parts car were snapped off on the ends.

Check the archives, there's an adjustment article in there somewhere.

I believe you are correct on the colors, I know the white one is correct.

When reinstalling the tortion spring and/or adjusting the tortion spring for the decklid I found it helpful to take a piece of flat iron and lay it along side the problem bracket on the trunk hinge all the way to the firewall, clamped in place with ViceGrips. This keeps the torsion spring from sliding off the hinge bracket while you're applying tension to it.
