Working on installing a 2002 Bonn 3800SC which has the wrong angled oil filter adapter for my mounting. Does any one know which years they interchange with for a different angled one. Thanks Dan

I believe any 98 and up SII has the same mounting type. I have a 99 Regal motor and my Adapter was the correct one, so maybe start your search there .

You will need one from a 97-04 GTP engine, that will put it str8 out by the axle with a curve at the end giving it clearance from the axle. You can find them pretty cheap on the GP Forum or you can buy one from a Dealership.

Is this the Part # 12569217 of what you have?
GM parts Direct has it for $19.10 + $7.95 shipping = $27.05

Where did you get your for $20 shipped?

I am gathering the parts I need for a 3800SC swap and this is something I still need.

There are about 4 differant adaptors out there that can be used. But some will not work with the 88 cradle where they will with the Pre-88 cradles. Then if you have a low mount alt bracket, you are limited to the ones you can use. The best one to use is the one from a 97-04 GTP, this one comes str8 out off the motor following the axle and then curves away fron the axle to clear the filter. This is one that can be used in every setup with no clearance issues. The same adaptor might come on other cars but I know forsure the GTP cars.

Do you have a part # for this?

It would make finding it easier.

I couldnt find the part number on GM Parts Direct so I sent them a E-mail to get it. I uses a 01 model GTP for referance(97-04 are all the same) and this is the reply part number I recieved.

CATEGORY: Engine Oil Filter Adapter Hardware
PACK QTY: 1 CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $73.13
OUR PRICE: $43.79

So then it has to be off a series II, the older 3.8's won't work as I have found quite a few with the right angle off older ones but the oil passage ways inside look different. Dan

I grabbed one from a S1 and thought it would work. After puttin it on the motor, I found it is built a little diffeant and was not going to clear the axles. I think it would be safe to use one from a S2 so you know you have the right one.
