A few questions since i'm new to the sceene and the site. First off hello everyone.

Now here is the questions. i just picked up an 86 GT and an 85 GT. the 86 has the rear shell/lights/scope and all that i like. (AKA FASTBACK) but NO title. can i take that whole rear off and swap it out with the 85 that is not a fast back? i like the lights and all in the 86 better and the side glass and fast back styling.

#2: any good aftermarket sites for ground FX? i look up body kits on the net and get nothing but converstions for lambo kits, and ferrari kits. not what i can really afford at 20G's a pop. just want to fix up the body with a lower stance. i already have the air ride kit coming in from my distributor so that will help alot.

any help would be great. thanks
Rick

I've seen alot of body work done on these. They should swap, but I don't know what issues you may encounter. I believe you'll need the wiring harness for the different light setup as well so don't get rid of the donor car too soon.

I saw a guy's pics of a fastback converted to notchie lights! that was quite a lot of cutomizing of the pannels!

Drop a fiero about an inch and a half and you will realize that you really can't put ground effects on them. You could get a chin spoiler, a IMSA wide body kit, a different spoiler, or a side skirt but anything more significant is usually going to have to be a home brew. www.fierowarehouse.com has some cool stuff so you could check them out.

Yes, you can switch out the fastback and notchback rear ends, heres a quick walkthrough (and not very detailed) that I googled:

Thanks guys. i have already gotten the 85 back off. working on the 86 now. i know i need the light harness. and thanks for the tip. when i'm done with the 86 it will have the 85 back on it. giving it to a friend when i'm done with the parts i need. he plans on a 350 swap.

as for the lowering i guess you guys just have to know me. i have an 86.5 Nissan Hardbody that acutally lays rockers. hehe. http://www.trendsetterminiz.com/november/

people have adapted parts from other cars like M3 side skirts - the fieros rockers are plastic and easily removable - so you can pull them off and mold in almost anything you want in order to lower them more

for the nose you may want to check out the fiero warehouse for an open or closed mouth chin spoiler

when combined with a drop the chin spoiler is barely off the ground

Well it took me 12 hours but i got the conversion all done. just lack a few odds and ends. would have been done sooner but the 85 needed to have alot of metel work done. the box supports over the wheel wells to the rear bumper had to be all redone. i just used 1 1/2 box tubing. should be plenty strong for that V8 conversion down the road. hehehe.

Thanks again for all your help

In addition to being the go-to guy for a V8 swap, his rocker panels are one of the best ways to visually lower the side of the car. Also, check out his chop tops if you want a distinstive, exotic look.
