Getrag or Isuzu?

What would be better for that kind of torque?
I have a thread asking for build threads for LS1 swaps but didn't get much response....

And once the proper trany is decided....what year/make/models still offer those trany's?

I have never heard anything bad about Isuzus other than the fact that the Getrags are just plain better. The fact they generally only used the Isuzus on 4cyl engines, people also assume that they are a weaker trans.

But the biggest factor depends on what your body is, as the Isuzu and Getrag are not interchangeable fully, the shift links and cluch components are different. Most people stick to what they have currently, but when given the choice they pick the Getrags.

PS, I have an easily repairable getrag most likely forsale, pm for details.

The Isuzu has a weak 2nd gear. A motor with a lot of torque such as an LS1 should use a getrag. Even 4.9 guys can frag 2nd gear on an Isuzu.

If you use a Getrag get it rebuilt. You run the risk of cracking the case with a worn out getrag due to larger backlash between the gears causing excessive force on the case its self.

We've done LS1's with the Fiero Getrags, haven't used an Isuzu yet with a LS1.

The LS1 going into my roadster is using a Pontiac G6 6 speed.

Yes! Archie, I just sent you an email about the G6 !

Looks like you have an adaptor plate already....

Do make a Master Build kit for a '99 LS1 to G6?
Or are you kits custom ordered for the specific application?
