well i have been asked a lot about the 11 1/4" brake upgraded. now i have not done this swap but i have gathered a lot of info off of other sites and also treads on here.

lets start with a few sites where i am getting my info from.

great tread but it is a little long and you have to sort threw it for the right info. tread
shows you can fit the 11 1/4" brakes behind the stock 15" wheels. tread
good info on performance brakes in general. website
this guy used the camaro calipers in the front and rear, but you have no e brake when this is done. tread

alright here i go. this is a list of all of the cars you can get the rotors and calipers from.

Front Caliper Assembly: 95-97 Blazer; 82-86 Bonneville; 78-88 Caballero; 78-84 Calais; 82-92 Camaro,Berlinetta,Iroc,Z28; 78-81 Century; 78-88 Cutlass Supreme, 442; 78-88 El Camino; 82-92 Firebird, Trans Am; 78-80 Grand Am; 78-87 Grand Prix; 96-97 Isuzu Trk. Hombre; 95-97 Jimmy/Yukon; 78-83 LeMans; 87-95 LLV Postal Vehicle; 78-83 Malibu; 78-88 Monte Carlo; 1978 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser; 78-87 Regal; 82-97 S & T10 Blazer; 82-99 S & T10 Pickup; 82-97 S & T15 Jimmy; 82-99 S & T15 Sonoma, 85 seville

Rear Caliper Assembly: 79-85 Eldorado; 79-85 Riviera; 80-85 Seville; 79-85 Toronado/Trofeo

Rotor Assembly: 91-95 Acclaim; 89-93 Daytona; 89-95 LeBaron; 1994 Shadow; 91-95 Spirit *You will use four rear rotors, Raybestos pn 7993*

slotted, drilled and/or demples rotor you can look in 3 place
1. performace rotors
2.west coast fiero can machine them for you
3. have a local machine shop do the work.

parts list.

1. calipers
2 front 85 seville calipers(they make it where you can use the stock brake lines)
2 rear 85 seville calipers(just to try and keep it all the same car)
2. pads
front pads for a 82-92 Camaro will work on front and back calipers (also camaro has performance brake pads)
3.rotors
4 rear 89-95 LeBaron vented rotors
4. master cylinder
92 blazer 1-1/8" bore master cyl
5. wheel studs
10- wheel studs (PN 610-323) needed for fronts
6.brake lines
front and rear 84-87 fiero brake lines(im sure your 20 year old lines are on there last leg, and i would buy stainless steel ones)
7.bolts to put bracket on knucle
8-7/16 thread 1 1/2" long grade 8
8.tap
7/16-20 (NF)
9.machined front hubs(can buy from west coast fiero or have yours done at a local machine shop)
10. brake brackets
rjblaze does group buys just pm him
west coast fiero
archie
11.washers(used for spacing on the caliper bolts)
12. brake fluid
i would find the highest boiling point for any dot3 or dot4 brake fluid and used that.
few tips to keep in mend while doing the brake upgrade.

When using REAR LeBaron rotors and 3/8" thick caliper brackets, use 0.325 thick spacers between caliper mounting ears and caliper bracket.
When using LeBaron FRONT rotors and 3/8" thick caliper brackets, use 0.650 thick spacers.

the 10 degree bracket has a small interfierence between the brake pad and the stock brake bracket..can get around it by using a die grinder to knock about 3/8" of the corner of the pad off (took all of 2 minutes)

tap the caliper to adaptor holes 7/16-20 (NF) and then also tap the stock knuckle holes 7/16-20 and get 7/16 bolts the right length to bolt the adaptors on..
Again, that's rear only. Not needed in the front.

here is a nother brake upgrade i am going to try, using a brake booster from a 96 S10. tread

there is always the question if you should get your rotors cross drilled, slotted, dimpled. here is what i have come up with.

cross drilled rotor will help to make spider cracks in your rotors and are only for looks, do not use them if you will be racing your car. allow gasses to escape.
slots will help shave off any glassed or uneven parts on the pad, it will lessen pad life but give you better braking threw out the pads life.
dimples are like cross drilled but do not go all the way threw the rotor. allow gasses to escape.

now again i might of missed some things. feel free to add to this or correct me if i am wrong. i am just trying to put togethr a a place to find info on the 11 1/4" brakes.

Bump!

Thanks, I see that RJ linked to this from the bracket sale, this is much better than how I have been trying to compile it...

Got a question, I'm in the process of doing this swap, I went out and bought the 7/16-20 tap, 3/8 drill bit (recommended) and bolts. When I went to do the front spindles, the 7/16 bolts would already start threading into the stockhousing part way (3 turns) This tells me there's not enough metal to drill out and retap for the 7/16-20 bolts. I'm going to buy the stock M12 1.50 grade 10 bolts 40mm long to fit it. Brofasco sells them up here, I'm sure they can be bought somewhere down there at a better price.

It says don't tap the front, they are already tapped. If the bolt is binding, then just use a thread chaser or be very careful with a tap. The tap should go in really easy if it is just cleaning the threads. Also check to make sure the bolt and the threads in the spindle are in good shape...

A bump and a thanx. Considering that my 86 SE will need a lot of brake work to get back on the road (been stored for over 10 years), this was some very useful info.

I would give you a + too, but apparently I am too new for that.

These are for the 84-87 fiero. 88's are actually much easier. There is a ton more info on both here also...
http://www.fieroaddiction.com/brakes.html

I have a set (all four) of these brackets lying around. They are the 10 degree offset rear and the front. They are lazer cut, with threads already tapped, really nice work. I will post/send pics if anyone is interested on Sunday. I bought them from RJblaze, out of the so called (pics on this page 1/2 way down) "endlessly long thread" . It now looks like I wont be using them. I going to end up doing an 88 cradle swap which will change my brake upgrade options. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM with an offer. I can get them out as early as Monday morning. I ship via UPS immediately upon recieving payment and always send a tracking number out. Anyone that has bought from me in the past can verify this.

Very nice thread by the way. NIce to see that someone took the time to get all the info together in one spot for easy referance. Good Job!

PM returned again.

The rear brackets are now sold to Cyanides. I think I will hold onto the front for the time being in case I need to use them for my brake upgrade. That was quick! Thanks guys!
