Many swear by the gatorback belts.

Rodney sells a stationary belt pulley to help the problem.
I sell a spring tensioner bracket that should also take care of it.

I offer the bracket alone. (you get the tensioner and belt yourself, or I am planning on picking up some more parts and offering the kit for $107.00 for all three parts. (includes shipping)

While Rodney's idler pulley is an improvement, it isn't a real belt tensioner. You may still end up re-tightening the belt from time to time. With a spring-loaded tensioner from a FWD 2.8/3.1 V6 and Dodgerunner's bracket, you get a real belt tensioner, i.e. no more re-tightening the belt... EVER!

Blacktree is correct. Rodney's setup has no spring. I have it and it works, but I'll be damned if I can figure out why? It's just another pulley (free wheeling) in the belt path.

The more "wrap" you get around the pulleys the better the belt will grip, that is why Rodney's kit works. You will still need to tension the belt correctly so the water pump and alternator bearings don't get damaged. A correctly tensioned belt has some play in it.
