I was wondering if anyone knows if there was ever a weight analysis done on a Fiero? I know they all come in around 2500-2600 lbs. I saw in one article that the frame weighs about 600 lbs and the body panels weigh about 175 all together. Has anyone seen a spreadsheet with detailed weights (engine, transmission, wheels, doors, seats, glass, etc).

I'm curious about this myself. Project Lupine's weight goal is 2400 pounds with a 50/50 weight ballance. Knowing what things weigh will really help me to pull this off.

Here is some engine weights to help you out.
http://www.bacomatic.org/~dw/txt/engfyi.htm

The frame alone weighs 600 lbs. Its not easy to get under 2400 without gutting it. I will post what I can out of the Performance Fiero's book by Robert (Greg) Wagner (think main page car). You can pick it up here. http://www.fierodave.com/

All weights are in lbs.

front engine mount - 2.8
glass sunroof - 14.3
fiero jack - 6.8
Spare - 29.8
Muncie 4 speed - with oil 89.2 - without 85.4
Getrag - with 98 - without - 94.2
Swaybar front - .9" dia 10.2 - 1" dia 12.4
V6 stock flywheel - 15
205/60-14 on stock fiero rims - 32.4 each
standard fiero seat, cloth - 32.8 each
y pipe with Egr and heat shield - 8.5
Steering stabilizer shock - 2
Trunk carpet - 5.6
Radiator fan - 6.2
engine blower (in trunk) - 3
wiper motor - 3.5
rear brake caliper (without pads) - 7.8 each
front rotor, hub, brake caliper, pads - 32.5 each side
Headlight buckets and motors - 6.2 each
intake manifold - 27.5
head with valve springs - 31.5 each
block (as published by GM) - 106
starter - 12.5
Engine long block - 302
exhaust manifold - 2.8 each
distributor - 2.3
throttle body and coolant lines - ~3
fuel rail and injectors - ~3.8
clutch and pressure plate - ~14.1
valve covers - ~2.3 each
ignition coil - ~1.5
Batteries can weigh anywhere from 12 (super light weight) to 45 (optima yellow top, ect)
Gallon of gas - ~6.3
Gallon of oil - ~7.4
Gallon of water - ~8.33
Gallon of antifreeze - 9.35

Good luck on your search. Hope this helps some. I would love to know how much the interior weighs (dash, carpet, ect)

I will be watching to see what others come up with also.

Thanks for the inputs. I just ordered the book, looks really good. I was looking back and I found an old thread that goes back a year. Check out "weight reduction, handling and braking" which had it's last reply 5/5/2007 at 8:46pm. I printed out 16 pages of comments back and forth with all kinds of great weight information, plus ideas for weight reduction.

The IS a great book. If you dont already have it........buy it. Full details on 3.4 swap, 3.4 turbo (stage1-3), LS1/LS6 hybred motor, handeling based on autocross experiance. You will be hard pressed to find another fiero book with as much detailed info as this one offers. Worth every penny. I've read it 3 times myself.

Thats a good thread too. I havent read it all because I don't race. I dont need a car that weighs 2100 lbs. My 2600 lb fiero is just fine for what I want.
