Does anyone know where to get the rubber boots that go on the ends of the caliper mounting sleeves on an '88? The Fiero store shows a kit for the 84-87 caliper mounting bolts, but not the '88. None of the other parts places I checked seem to have them.

They must be available somewhere cause the rebuilders get them but no one here has found a source.

They used to come with the bushing kit but that's now obsolete.

I just got a set of rebuilt calipers from a rebuilder and he told me that he is using boots that are "not oem" but work just fine. Maybe I can find out which ones he's using for all of us here on the forum. Is anyone else interested in this?

Okay- the guy has told me that he might be willing to start selling the boots he uses to rebuild '88 calipers, but that he is hesitant because he "can just foresee some people complaining because they aren't quite right and I don't really want to get all mixed up in that." I have told him that the people on here likely would NOT complain about it as long as the function properly and work as required, because right now we have NO alternative!

I will keep working with this guy- I know he says he has a TON of the boots that will work on hand currently and that he would "like to sell some." But he's worried about customers complaining and such is the deal. I will get mine installed and maybe post some pics of them so anyone who's interested can compare to factory ones (I don't have any factory '88 calipers with oem boots on hand to compare).

Just to clarify, is there enough interest in these for me to bother talking this guy into selling them??

I would definitely buy them. I just ordered rebuild kits, and I was going to steal a boot from a spare caliper to replace a torn boot to get a complete set. So I'll have nice clean rebuilt calipers with 20 year old boots. So yeah, I'd love to get boots. I have the factory boots to compare and I'd be glad to report how they fit. Just let me know who I should call, and I'll make sure he understands I'll take them with no assurance they fit properly.
