HELP! I'm trying to put a High performance 2.8L back into my 86' GT and it's not fitting. We thought it was the pilot bushing so we took it out. I have a 4-speed Muncie transmission and it wont fit with the bushing everyone says to buy for the car. The ID on the Crankshaft is .829 and the OD on my input shaft is .750. Does the Fiero V6 2.8L even have a pilot bushing? PLEASE HELP!

The Fiero does not use a pilot bushing. At least my 85 SE and GT, 86 SE, and 88 GT did not use one.

yeah i learned the hard way, i put my 3.4L 5 speed combo together, and the 3.4L had a pilot bushing in the crank so i left it in there, when i bolted them togteher, i got it all down to about 1/16th of an inch to being completely together, then turned the wrench to tighten it some more and teh casing on the tranny broke, had to have it welded back up.

lesson learned i guess.
