I posted this question on the Indy board but got very little response.
Also, does anyone know how many parade lap (Flag Lot) cars there were? I've heard that there was around 100.
Thanks,

I'm gussing none. I wonder how much it cost Pontiac to the Fiero to be the pace car? It certinly wasn't picked because it was such fast high-pro car. Don't interupert that to say I dont' like our Fieros, love them, just being a bit real thats all.

I don't know if Pontiac had to pay or not, but I'm sure they furnished all the Pace cars, parade lap cars, & support vehicles/personel for free.
I have documentaion with my car. The envelpoe the flag lot sticker came in (remains of the sticker is still on the windshield), the original invoice, original Indianna registration, & other shtuff I can't remember at this time. If it's the ONLY documented parade lap car left, I would sell it for $30,000 OBO.

No one else has documentation of any kind from the speedway or Indiana?
Seriously?

If I recall correctly, Gary Witzenburg's book on Fieros states that only 3 actual fiero pace cars were built for the 1984 indy race. These 3 pace cars had super duty 4 cylinder engines, aero nose, a wing and a single scoop over the engine that stuck up above the roof. The rest of the indy pace cars are replicas. If you have one of the 3 pace cars, I think it's safe to say that it is a very rare fiero.

Hopefully someone else has more information about these cars than I do.

No, I'm not talking about the actual pace cars. There were somewhere around 100 parade lap cars on the track before the race. http://www.fieropacecar.com has some good pics of them.
Thanks for the response,
Paul

The number 100 sticks in my mind. There was a guy at the Dell Runs several years ago that had one of these cars. He had an extensive binder of photos and documents on these cars. There was even a special black & white numbered license plate with the number on it issued by Indiana. He explained how these pace cars were like offical and staff courtesey cars used at the track and then were sold thru Pontiac dealers after the race. It has been too long to remember all the details but I found his story interesting.

I forgot to ask along with your vin what was the number assigned to your vehicle for the parade. Every little bit helps in trying to solve the mystery.
