Guys, I am on dial-up and currently using an old laptop....You can guess how long any research with the search feature takes.

So, to save some of what little sanity I have left, does anybody have bookmarks to THE BEST 4.9 swap thread, as well as the best thread regarding the pros/cons and how-to of tranny swap at the same time?

Since I am out of the game for a bit with medical issues, it seems like a real good time to get a very detailed education rather than my usual stumble along and figure it out as I go.

There are several good ones.
It really depends upon whether you're going to rebuild it, or just going to find a "runner" and install it.
Most of them have loads of pics, but you'll probably want to look at them at some point.

Rockcrawl's page. (This guy is an artist.)
http://www.fieroaddiction.com/caddy49b.html
Main page. http://www.fieroaddiction.com/

Rebuild/buildup and install done by Forum member "GT". 7 pages with lots of pics. (Not exactly dial-up friendly, but you did ask.)
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/061613.html

Wiring harness construction. (They can also be purchased already assembled.)
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/079246.html

A teardown thread by "Fieroseverywhere".
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/082203.html
...and the rebuild thread.
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/082515.html
...and the install thread.
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/067149.html

There are lots of others, but that ought to keep you busy for a while.

To see all of my "4.9" search results, click here
It's a list of all of the active threads with "4.9" in the title. You might see something that interests you.
Shouldn't take too much time to load the list.

There is an MSN group for swaps that you can join.

http://groups.msn.com/Fiero...apGroup/shoebox.msnw

This has build info

http://www.thingsthatgo.ca/...s/v8fiero/mounts.htm

Good wiring info

http://members.fortunecity.com/bubbajoexx/id16.htm

A pretty complete website rundown, but loads of pics

http://www.fieroaddiction.com/caddy49a.html

Hope this helps

Ooops.
I didn't realize that Arn had added Fieroaddiction until I had come back from editing mine.

All you really need is see my post in this thread:
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/079246.html

Rockcrawls page for diagrams:
http://www.fieroaddiction.com

and maybe this one:
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...050818-2-052483.html

Depends on your motor mounts dictates your mounting method (Rockcrawls, BubbaJoes, Fiero Factory, etc) - decide which system you are going to go with and then go from there (I like Bubba's - but not sure if he is still selling them).

Anything more is too much information...

As for the transmission, sorry can't help you there.

This thread is great, but it needs more photos and specific instructions that are understandable by a person with mechanical knowledge, but no wiring experience like myself. A website is needed that specifically spells out this part of the swap. I currently have a '88 Fiero and 4.9 engine ready to swap. Maybe it's just a learn-by-doing experience.

Just a heads up - the Fiero Addiction website is now a store and the useful free information such as wiring diagrams is no longer there.

At "Fiero Addiction" look at the top right hand corner under "Important Links" for the Fiero Addiction Informational Site link. I just check on it and it still works as it should. He has split into two or more websites.

If you want to take a run down to Canyon Lake (between San Antonio and Austin) some weekend, I'd be willing to spend some time with you to get you going

-mocking up a firewall with engine out of the car
-wire splicing
-reading circuit diagrams
-rerouting the Cadillac engine harness (pretty or ugly)
-circuit by circuit review on how to interface Cadillac engine harness to Fiero
