I was paging through the Fiero Store and saw their posting for an Evap Canister and it said that a new one can improve performance and engine fluctuation.....any truth to this? Other than the obvious vacuum leak that it could have.

There is nothing inherent on the Duke that would make it any different than the V6 as it applies to the evap canister, so this goes for all Fieros.

The EVAP canister will:

A) Improve cold-starts, since it sucks the fuel vapors back into the engine at first compression allowing the motor to start quicker.
B) Eliminate fuel vapors from leaking into the air (cabin, atmosphere, etc)
C) Prevent vacuum leaks.

C is the biggest issue, since the purge valve can go bad allowing there to be a consistent vacuum leak.

You're not going to gain-back horsepower, obviously... but it will eliminate any vacuum isues you may have.

The purge valve typically doesn't go bad, but... if you still have the original, it might be saturated by this point (I guess that's the right term?).
