someone probably thought that disabling the EGR would give them performance gains (which it does not, just increases cylinder temps), so thats why its blocked off. and no, this would not be your problem, since all EGR does, is throw already burnt air and fuel into the combustion chamber again, making the available oxygen less, with the same amount of fuel, to force the car to run rich without increasing fuel pulse widths.
