I tried searching and only came up with one thread pretaining to this transmission being used in V6 cars.

Anyways the F23 as most know is the transmission used in later model sunfire and cavaliers ( others im sure as well ) Most commonly known as being attached to the Ecotec, but there is another version with what Im fairly sure is the same bell housing pattern as the V6's that comes with the 2000+ 2200SFI pushrod cars ( If im incorrect we can more or less stop discussing now lol )

Anyways why is this transmission not a more popular swap? Its quite a bit more common then most other getrags atleast in my area. Has anyone used this trans on a 2.8 or 3800 whatever yet?

If so whats some of the snags? I assume one of the turn offs is the shift linkage would probably share alot of the same problems the Ecotec swaps have, Reversed shift pattern with Jbody shifter or custom brakets and linkage attachments to use the stock shifter. Anything Im over looking about this trans that makes it unpopular or is just not widely known that you can get it in the v6 bolt pattern fromt he 2200 SFI cars?

The shift cables are sorta nearly impossible to work with easily... but it is possible...

it is not popular because there is no GM rating that says it handles more power than the 282.... so everyone assumes that 20 year old technology was obviously better than the F23.

Is there something worse about it then the ecotec swaps linkages? the eco swap linkage seemed to be not that big a deal to me. Nothing I couldnt handle anyways.

While I know the trans is rated somewhat low by GM my personal experience has shown it to be MUCH stronger then the Fiero getrags and god knows leaps an bounds better shift feel and quality.

I'm guessing that the extra work required to get it functional is not worth it. The 90s getrags are rated for MUCH more torque than these are and they're almost a direct replacement. It seems kinda like asking for grief and headaches to go through the work of getting all the custom parts to make cables and hydrolics for this when you can get a 90s getrag that works simply and is rated higher.
