I am not a fan of the large rims and tiny rubber i see some 1988 GT Fieros wearing. I like the stock look and am using 205 60 15 on the front and 215 60 15 on the rear.
I would like to know how wide a tire i can go on the rear. Showoffs submitting photos welcome! Thanks for your responses.
Those are at least 275s. If 275s, they're on 9.5" or 10" rims. If 285s, then 10s or 10.5s. You can get a 265/50 onto a 7" rim, I've seen it many times, but expect unpredictable response when takling turns fast. I've even seen 295/50s on 7s, twice, but it's extremely unwise. If you want wide 15s, like 15x8s or 15x10s, then get some steel Beretta 15x6 wheels, then send them to Stockton Wheel in Stockton, California. Then forget about "offset", they'll tell you how they want you to measure the "backspacing" of your stock 15x7" rims, and that's what they'll re-hoop the Beretta wheels to have. So if you go to 15x8, the rims will stick out 1" more than your 7s, And you're set for 265/50s. Or go to 10s, then get a widebody kit or fender flares, and fit 295/50s.

I think i will go with 265 50 15 on my original gold lace rims. They are wide and a close match for the original circumference which will hardly affect the speedometer reading.
