I've had a lot of folks here ask for pics of the build/progress. It's a '90 VW Cabriolet (think Rabbit Convertible) with '88 Fiero running gear/suspension, & a SBC. Here is a link to the webpage. http://angelonearth.net/VW.html For some reason the server strips the "target" in the bottom link on the detail pages; best to just use the "Back" button to go back to the thumbnails (asking about the problem at Direct NIC). I'll add more pics as it progresses... ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"

Looks good so far (very nice welding!), but only the first 5 thumbnails yielded viewable pictures.
Thanks. I do OK for a blind man. I don't get that: they all work for me, & I've checked to make sure they came from the server (via image properties). ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"

I was able to see them all. Now that's a project! Nice looking work there. Are you planning on a "wide body" kind of thing. It looks like the front end is pretty wide. I guess it could be wheels and angle. Should be a wild ride when it's all done.
Thanks. The Fiero track is 6" wider than the VW. I just got widebody type fenders/flares for it, as well as Eribuni fiberglass bumpers & side skirts. I've already made a fiberglass hood, so the entire frontend will be fiberglass (except for the core support). I'll get pics of those parts soon. ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
Hey Leroy, what'cha doin' dragging that chain across the floor? Leroy: "Ever tried *pushing* a chain?"

I just tried your site in IE, and all the pictures worked fine. I usually use Firefox, and I just tried that again, and the pics still don't' work in it. I guess it just doesn't like Firefox.
Originally posted by motoracer838 Looks like a really cool project, I can't wait to see it with the widebody panels on it.
I can't wait just to finish the engine compartment in primer & get it back on the ground. Should go pretty quick after that (relatively speaking).

You said before that the first 5 worked. That's the really strange part as every page has the EXACT same html on it.... They are just simple html. I would think any browser could read them. But I guess they have to make the browsers so complicated now-a-days that they can't read simple html any more.... In the past I tested all my pages with about 10 different browsers on 7 different operating systems & at 5 or more screen resolutions. I'll probably do the same when I put these on my website & actually link to them - if I ever get time for all that.... ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
Paul, I love your work. You give spot on advice. but honestly, of all the cars I would think of modding, those rubber stamp squared off vw's??????? I would rather see a sbc or bbc in a beetle. But I quess that is personal preference. I just don't see putting that quality of work into that type of car. Your talent should be put into a car you can auction for 80k, so you can start financing even better pieces. You do better work than I've seen on some tv shows, go for the hot cars that sell for the $$$, and build your name and then tear loose on something really custom. Tom

As a sedan/hatchback, I couldn't agree with you more. But the cabriolet is a cool little car that is great fun, & a perfect body for this mod. It'll have a targa roof, that goes to the roll bar; & a removable rear window section that'll keep it a true convertible. It just shows that I like a myriad of cool machines (which I guess is why I have so many projects). I don't build them to sell; I build them because - as an artist - I must. BTW, I have two Beetles. One (an off-road baja) I built about 30 years ago that now needs a complete rebuild, & a street baja that I still need to finish (I lost interest in it for a while after all my shtuff - including the 750 watt stereo system from the VW - was stolen). For the two above posts: Thanks & ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
It took years of effort, to become the mess that you see.
Uploaded 6 new pics of the engine compartment after finishing it out, blocking, & re-priming. Also undercoated the bottom. Geeze has it been 4 months??? I have GOT to find more time to work on this thing.... ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
I child proofed the house, but they got in anyway.
I have to agree with tjm4fun. I understand ya picking a VW Cabriolet. I owned a 75 Rabbit When I was a teen.
On the other hand. (I don't build them to sell) I understand being a artist. But even a pretty picture painter sells there Paintings.
I PM ya some links laterz. Just things I worked on the last few years. Might get ya blood hot. I mean that in a good way
Well you have to understand; it's not my only project. I also have a V8 Z car, two Fiero projects, two VW Beetles, & I'm working on re-building the pickup (painting the frame, channeling & lowering it right now). I'm just concentrating more on the VW 'cause I think - for the most part - it'll be the most fun. Also, I'm waiting for the 3800SC for the custom Fiero, & of course more money to buy parts for all of them... EDIT: A picture painter can't drive their work... ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
The older I get, the better I was.
