I bought a 13" WCF kit (Viper rotors/Corvette calipers) from another PFF member. It arrived today and I started with cleaning and painting the parts.
I will take pictures of my progress and the installation.
The boxes:
Out of the box:
After a thorough cleaning, masking off for painting:
All rotors painted:
Hubs painted:
Brackets painted:
Calipers will be done tomorrow and installation will be Monday/Tuesday.

Idk what it is about those rotors, but I just don't get a comfortable feeling looking at the way they're drilled. I don't see how it could be a problem, but it looks awefully weird.

I think there was a big long thread on here some time ago about this issue. Don't know what the general consensus was on the drilling of the rotors but I know I wouldn't use them.
I used carburettor and brake cleaners, a wire sponge, wire brushes, an electric wire wheel and shop rags to clean. High-temp silver/aluminum and black paint as well as red caliper paint from Advanced Auto Parts for painting.
Of course I will take before/after pix.

If the center is a snug fit I would think that a couple of weak holes would not present a problem.

I definitely wouldn't worry. The rotor is clamped between the wheel and the hub, the screws are only there to provide the clamping force which in turns results in the friction that's keeping the wheel, rotor and hub at the same rotational speed relative to eachother. But it does look weird with the siamese holes And I do wonder why the kit uses 13" Viper rotors instead of 13" Vette rotors?

I am a bit worried about braking bias on this kit. 88's brakes are identical at all 4 corners. 84-87's are slightly front biased, but this kit looks to be all about the front. That might be OK for a corvette, but for a Fiero, I would be concerned. You might want to consider disabling your Proportional valve, as now your bias is so heavily shifted by the brakes themselves. If you leave the Proportional valve as it is, you will have very little rear braking and poor stopping distances.
that'll give you a fixed 50-50 front to rear pressure distribution instead of the 58-42 front to rear the factory prop valve will deliver at max braking pressure. That should help straighten out the bias issue that this brake upgrade is sure to cause. I wish I could find hard data on piston diameters for these calipers, It would be interesting to see what kind of bias the corvette used.

I am highly curious what the weight difference is between the original and new brake parts for each axle. Do you have either the time or interest to provide this info? TIA.

Call WCF since they're the ones who shipped the parts, but Yellowstone might know since the weight should be indicated on the package. Otherwise, I have weights for the C5 and various parts.

The Viper 13" rotor weighs 17 lbs per wheel while the 13" Vette rotors are MUCH heavier, I think the front Vette rotor is 27 lbs and the rear Vette rotor is probably lighter than 27 lbs. We weighed the rotors on a shipping scale several years ago, but I cannot remember the Vette's weights. Also, I cannot find the Vette 13" rotor weight on the Internet; maybe someone else can. The weight difference is so significant that WCF no longer offers them, but I am sure if you really want them, WCF will supply them.
One of the real advantages of Yellowstone's WCF setup is that you keep the Vette E-Brake.

David

1. I see NO TOOLS in this man's hands! 2. I see NOT A SINGLE BIT of grease or dirt on this man's hands, shirt, or pants! (In fact that is the cleanest white t-shirt I think I have ever seen!) 3. This man does not appear to be SWEATING at all in the South Florida heat! 4. This man is smiling WAY too much!
I do not believe that this man is actually *working* on his car!
NOW I know who this man is!!! IT'S MR. CLEAN!!
