Now i know im not the only person with this scoop on their car, but i havent found a proper build thread for it, so for all of us beginners, here goes nothing!

I bought the scoop off of ebay for 100 shiped to my door, great deal! the scoop wasnt paper thin or damaged!

The first thing i did was measure it up to my decklid and attached it with drywall screws. After that was done i took it off and cut a hole in my decklid ( Ive never cut a hole in a perfectly good car before!) and then put it back on

After that I had to wait till decent enough tempuratures to fiberglass in. I removed the decklid and sanded the areas that were subject to fiberglassing. Then the scoop was fitted for the last time. The glass was applied in between the screws

This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.

Then the screws were removed and then glass was put in place of them ( i am using the fiberglass mat you can buy at canadian tire, i used a resin/glass/resin/glas/resin mthod. it comes out pretty thick! after that i sanded the glass down with a flapdisk on my grinder just to get it close enough to apply the bondo

Then i applied a generous amount of bondo around the entire scoop just to be sure i dont miss a spot

countless hours later i applied a sandable primer just to see all my low spots

Then a finishin glaze was put on to fill all the pinholes/low spots. After that was sanded, primer was put on the whole decklid, then the primer was sanded and painted a flat black till winter when im gettin the whole car done flat black

I was also asked about clearence for a spoiler and at the back near the window

The spoiler

And near the window

And another cool mod im trying out is a 3rd brakelight inside the scoop!

If anyone wants more pics id be more than happy to put some on!

When I did mine I used SMC Panel Adhesive. I hope your Bondo works as well.

The size of the pics gives resolution that is a bit muddled even on my big monitor. Maybe you could size them down a bit? Just a suggestion.

bondo was only used to fill in the low spots. i thought about using smc adhesive, but when i learnt the strength of fiberglass i didnt see the point. Im also using photobucket and dont know how to resize the pics, sorry

The worse part is whether the bondo or the SMC filler are best for absorbing the engine heat without cracking. Im guessing the bondo will lose I got the OEM 6 pack hood scoop for my Coronet out of a Mopar parts magazine for $60. It is real fiberglass with gelcoat, some replicas are just plastic. I didnt mold in it. If I wanted molded, you can just get a ready made hood with it. I didnt mold it into the metal hood just because of the ultimate cracklng problem. I just made sure it had a nice , straight finished edge and epoxied bolt to the inside and used nuts under the hood to mount it.

Yeah it's unfortunate when it cracks, but oh well! That's just another project to work on!
I don't expect it to last forever, but unti then I'll enjoy it!

It wouldn't look right not being molded onto a fiero. It'd look cheap.

Lots of factory cars have bolted on scoops. Mustangs, Cobras, Cudas............they dont have to be molded on. Its simply matter of choice if its not factory. I prefer to bolt one on and be done, not have to repair and repaint it every couple of years.
