Well sorry fastfieros, but i just cannot justify spending $375 on a low-mount alternator bracket.....But i want a low mount setup on my 3800 SC to clean it up. So what have you crafty guys been doing for a low mount? pics would be great!

Here's mine. I took the 3800 dogbone mount and married it with the Fiero dogbone mount. Took a little hacksawing, filing, measuring more filing until I got it the way I wanted it. Then took the two parts to a local welder and here's how it turned out.
Here's a picture that Ryan sent me during my build while the engine was still out of the car...

I can post pictures of mine but it the style that FF sells so no reason to. Whatever low mount route you decide to take incorporate the Grand Prix dogbone into it. It makes for a nice addition to the mounting process and keeps the motor nice and soild.....If you are not worried about using the GP dogbone then it is pretty simple to make a low mount out of some junk metal and creativity....
Low mount alternator. Total cost for the brackets, bolts and spacer was less than $15.00.

Dsensitized, it looks like you are running a caddy 140 amp alternator. Would you mind telling me how you wired it up? I have 4 wires coming out of the plug on mine and am unsure which ones to use.

I made mine from some simple pipe and left over steel rod. With some imagination and a cutting wheel you can mount the alt with no problem. I dont understand why anyone would pay that much for a bracket.

That's just the alternator that came with the engine when I got it so I believe it is stock, no idea on the amperage though. This is a series 1 motor from a '95 oldsmobile 88.

Low mount at the front of the engine (ac delete) :
2 reasons for doing this: a slightly better weight balance (alternator moved lower and more to the front) but mainly to clean up the top of the engine..
