Hi, Guys,

While getting ready to do some electrical work, I noticed that there was a single digit number preceding the wire color code in the FSM electrical diagrams. This turns out to be the gauge of the wire. Unfortunately, it is metric. I did some looking and came upon this site:

http://www.rbeelectronics.com/wtable.htm

It contains lots of very useful information, including wire gauge to current for length of run, and most especially the METRIC-TO-AWG CONVERSION TABLE. Now you can determine the size of wire (or connector) you need right from the drawings!

Hope someone finds it as useful as I have!

Previously posted on PFF ... from the GM/Helm factory Service Manual:

The FSM does note that in this table, "Each AWG size is either equal to or larger than the equivalent metric size."

Here's a link to another conversion chart that provides a finer-grained comparison.

FWIW, from just a quick review the WIRE GAUGE SELECTION TABLE in the http://www.rbeelectronics.com/wtable.htm page contains significant errors. Use it with caution, if at all.
