I have done it. I would not recommend anything aftermarket, as it is easy enough to find the used parts.

I used parts from donor doors with no problems. It wasn't hard to do once you have the parts in hand. Be sure an get the bracket that supports the lock actuator. I bought a Large Hand Rivet gun from Harbor Freight for about $12 on sale and it came with 25 each of several size rivets.

well i found someone to sell me all the wiring and actuators and trim bezels and stuff. so when i do this im probably going to be posting here frequently, i will need the help.

im probly gonna do the passenger door first, not a lot of guests in my car so no trim for a while shouldnt be a problem.

You will need the wiring harness from the car also. It does not come with the harness pre-installed. You will also need the relay that is attached to the harness.
Do you have the short rods that connect from the solenoids to the latch rods, which already are in the door?

The trunk power harness is wired in all 88 FIeros. The power door lock, power window, power mirror harness is not. You would need to add all of the wiring for those items.

I put aftermarket power locks in my 88 coupe, wired to buttons added to the center console, and to a remote system.

you're right, i just looked at the wiring under the dash, there is only two wires goin to that plug, they are for the power windows. so basically the kit i got is useless cause you have to take out all the wires under the dash anyway and get new ones. why would anyones do this? what a pain the ass. it looks like aftermarket was the way to go.

so im back to square one with this.

You don't have to remove any wires, just add the harness for the power accessories. There are 3 separate harness to add. One each for windows, mirrors, and locks. Also, there is a junction block the orange and pink wires plug in to, the harness plug in to the junction block. You can make your own connectors to mate the power to the harness, if you don't have the junction block.

Other thing, the connector going through to the door will be pinned for whatever combination of power accessories you have.

You can get the power options you need from any year and make them work. Only difference would be the power mirrors but they can be make to work.

yep, sounds like a lot of electrical work. so like i said, it seems after market was the way to go. if not id have to first find a fiero with all that wiring and then waiste a weekend trying to squeeze it all under the dash and running it through the door. where as after market you bolt on a motor and run 2 wires to power, ground and to a button.

anyway, i dont really know what wiring i would need, and i dont know what junction thing your talkin about. the kit i got has this plug that looks like it has everything running through it.

P.S. i already have power windows, i am not adding power mirrors. i just want to add power locks.

ok so im not understanding some things. and clearly i am frustrated with this. i hate electrical work.

so here is the connector that comes FROM the door, to my power window motor.

and here is the connector that it went into (the black one). the clear one is the connector that came with the wiring i bought

and here are all the things the wires from the clear connecter (the one pictured above) go to. from what i can tell its the buttons for the power locks, the plug for the power lock motor, and the plug for the power window motor.

so what am i needing? what im thinking is that the black connector in my car is usless. it has to be replaced with a harness that has as many wires in it as that clear connector has. which means pulling it out form under the dash, buying a new harness, and re-routing that one through the dash.

Hi I am in the middle of doing this also - what you seem to have is just the wires that go in the doors you also need the main harness that goes in the car which basically when you spread it out on the floor it would look like a large T .
both the plugs from the door and the main harness have several wires - if you notice they are lettered on the block a - h however h isnt used.

another thing to consider as I am little stuck myself is you need the door lock relay that bolts under the passenger side dashboard and is about 4x2x2 in dimensions and silver in color.

aftermarket. only way to go. comes with a key fob to lock/unlock, super easy to hook up. Took about 2 hours total. You get to keep the manual funtion if you want, so no replacing any stock hardware, and you still can use the manual way to lock the door when your in the car.

I used the Astra 50 keyless system http://www.ecarsecurity.com...ra-50-p/astra_50.htm

and two random lock poppers. http://www.amazon.com/HIGH-...TUATOR/dp/B0002KR9PW

do you think there is anyway you could connect them to the lock/unlock buttons that come in the fiero?

the lock actuators are fed power from the "black box". Thats the other link. The box conrtols a bunch of functions, you can hook up, lights, horn, interior lights etc...The Key Fob even has a Power trunk option. I have not hooked that up yet, but will this summer. No idea if you can make it work with a power lock setup, it kind of defeats the purpose if you have power locks already, its ment to replace manual lock cars. So I guess you'd have to play around with the wiring. In my setup, I have the same manual setup as stock, the stock manual "push/pull" door handle is in place, and I can manually lock/unlock the car from inside. When I exit the car, I walk away and I hit "lock" on the key fob and the locks "lock". When I approach the car, I push the "unlock" button and they "unlock". Just like a new car. I don't know how you could use the power lock buttons, because the actuators "push/pull" the lock bar when you push the keyfob only. No wireing to go up to the power lock buttons.

This setup is just too easy. You could use it for anything that needs to be pushed/pulled. This same setup could be used for "shaved door handles" or to open/close a hood scoop flap. Lots of possibilities.

Just curious, was there a specific reason you went with the Astra system for the keyless? I see on Amazon where you got the poppers they have 2 keyless systems there - Viper for $48 and Bulldog for $40.01 (vs. $34.00 for the Astra). If this is all it takes I'm going to install on mine, and thinking if the Viper or Bulldog will do the trick I can probably save shipping by purchasing them together.
