Thought some people might find this interesting. The SD4 intake is WAY bigger than the stock intake.

The ports are MASSIVE in comparison! The black marks on the stock intake are where the intake gasket lines up, I'm planning to gasket match that intake.

The SD4 intake will not fit in the stock engine bay, without removing the trunk wall, or moving the engine from the stock position.

fierosound explains that in the thread on his SD4 install:

I think that was only because of the way the 4T60 4-speed automatic sits with stock transmission mounts (tranny's a bit wider).
I had to modify the front transmission mount to get the transmission level (front is high).

It think it should be OK if you're staying with stock transmission and mounts - but it will still be close.
EDIT: I'm sure I used just stock mounts when I swapped in a Fiero Getrag 5-speed and took the 4T60 4-speed automatic out.

I dunno, I had it lined up pretty close, and it looked there was a good 2" of interference. Don't really want to drain the coolant and take the intake off to find out at this time, though.

Found these pictures I'd seen before.

Pretty sure this is on a stock Duke with stock engine/trans mounts.

On the REAL Indy, it appears they notched the trunk more for the air cleaner than for the manifold.
The Indy had a TBI although the engine was originally designed with a carb in mind.

For real overkill (only $525) http://www.thecarburetorsho...ultiplemanifolds.htm

Looks like this on the engine.

You won't see these often, but Offenhauser also made a 4-bbl for the Duke

For a while Clifford also have 4-bbl intakes for the Duke

More suitable for use on Duke or mild SD4 would be the Edelbrock 2-bbl carb intake.

There's also the Edelbrock Performer intake for TBI

Holley also made a performance intake and TBI for the Duke (I think this is one)

Has anyone tried an ITB intake on a Duke or SD4?

My Indy originally had Webers on the SD4 - not practical. Because of the trunk, you can't fit any air cleaner at all.
All the carbs had were foam screens on the end of the trumpets that would be sucking hot engine bay air from over the muffler area.
