On 88 v6, Is the heater hose from thermostat pipe to firewall pipe on the firewall size 5/8ths on both ends? I found a few archived links asking about this preformed rubber house, bit nothing concrete. I plan to just use some universal heater house, and hope it won't have to make too much of a sharp bend to cause kinks.

You know that you can remove the crimp, and just replace the section of hose... right?
The pipe on the firewall can remain in place. Just use a regular hose clamp.

My apologies if I have misunderstood your question.

I don't see a crimp on this one, so can I just use universal heater hose? 5/8th? I don't know if heater hose has more than one size. I'd be really screwed if the thermostat neck and this pipe have two different sizes.

The hard lines accept a 5/8" heater hose. Its been a while since I had a 2.8 to verify the engine side fitting, but on the 88 2.5 it is 5/8"
