Well guys, i split the case of my Getrag 5 spd because it didn't shift in 1 and second gear. I asked it earlier when it wasn't split and they thought the fork was bent maybe. I cant see that? One gear looks like the 'teeth' are a bit scraped off! Is this an issue or the main problem?
I put 4 pictures at this link. Maybe it can help?

Also, i have the manual and searched PFF but it seems no one has had this before. Is it just the alignment or are the gears to far gone?

If I recall correctly a few of the gears have a slight 45 degree edge from factory, I don't remember 100% though.

Also did you check your actual shifting assembly up front in the center console? Something could have came loose like the cable preventing you from going into 1st or 2nd

The problem is that the fork only wants to come up half an inch to shift in 5 and Reverse. It shifts fine in 3 and 4 put when ik press on the fork it does not want to go down so i can shift to 1 and 2. Can i disasemble the gears to see whats the problem or is this one of those you would better let a machine shop do?

I know there are special tools involved, but I don't know what they are.

You can take it apart yourself, all you need is a hydraulic press and basic tools. It's been awhile since I did mine, I'm not sure how far you can go before you need the press though. If I recall correctly you can get the forks out without using the press. I have a feeling that your shift plate for the synchro got knocked off, this happened to me once when I shifted without using the clutch.

Without a press, you can't get the gearshafts out of the transmission. But you don't need a very big press to get them out. I did it myself with a little press.

But to get the gears, synchros, etc off the shafts, you will need a press rated for at least 15 tons. Also, if you need the technical manual for this transmission, let me know.

On a side note, I hope you don't end up doing all this, just because of a bad select cable.

Thanks everyone. Blacktree, i dont have a press. Its difficult enough to buy a floot jack here . I will take it away this afternoon to a refurbishing compagny. I need that 5 speed, gas costs enough here. A gallon gas here is about 10 dollars so.......
