working on my 3500 F23 swap, the harness was built using Darth's 3400 pinout. I installed my wiring harness and started testing to make sure everything is working correct, and so far, I've come across 3 odd issues.

1: My Check engine light is is not coming on. I grounded pin "C" on the C203, and the light comes on bright, so I know the bulb is good, and I checked the wire going to the PCM and it is int he correct location. I also checked the PCM grounds, all appear to be correct and in place. am I missing something? the PCM does ground pin 5 on the clear connector to turn the light on right?

2: the charge failure indicator is also actin weird, initial key on, and it's bright, key off and back on, and it's off. that's not normal is it? also, when you turn the key to "start" the light will stay on after the starter engages instead of turning back off like when the key is cycled off and on.

3: when the charge failure light does come on, if you look really close, you can see the CEL flash once very quickly, and then nothing.

any thoughts?

I hooked up my DHP and checked for DTC's, and it said none were present, none of the sensors are hooked up, and the engine is off, so I should have something right?

ok, more info, I made a jumper, pulled the clear PCM connector, and grounded pin 5, CEL comes on. bad PCM? maybe missing a ground? according to Darth's pinout, I've got all the grounds in place and accounted for.

and fixed.

looked back over the pinouts, and I was missing a second IGN + in pin 24 on the clear connector.

You beat me to it.

You would have also found the engine would not have run without the 2nd IGN+ power connection to pin C2-24 on this particular PCM.

Most 1999-newer 3100 & 3400 OS's require the 2nd IGN+ power connection. And, in case you are wondering, the same PCM using a 3800 OS or older 3100/3400 OS does not.

not gonna lie, I started to freak something fierce when it didn't work right, I was having a similar problem before the swap started, and decided to start the swap on the premise that anything that could cause the problem would be replaced...
