What companies out there perform Engine swaps for engines such as 3.4, 3.8, N-*, SBC, etc? I want to get a list of vendors and experiences with these vendors before I decide who I am going to go with and with engine swap.

Here are a couple.....

3.4 - http://www.angelfire.com/on/fierofactory/start.html#top

3.8 - http://www.americancustomeng.com/ which is ACE

Chris West - http://home.earthlink.net/~chriswest/

NorthStar - http://www.designonesystems.com/

V-8 - http://www.v8archie.com

As for opinions well I have a 3.8 Supercharged v-6 in mine And love it...This is an engine that should have been in the fiero all along......ACE did the conversion and alot of people have said they had problems. I did not have any. Great quality work. The engine looks like it belongs there.

3.4 I am getting in ready to do to another one I have and I know I will use Ed Parks @the fierofactory...he seems to have a good reputation and I have spoke to him on the phone and he was very nice and open to any questions.

V-8 Archie...well this depends on who you ask but he gets alot of press or E press if you know what I mean. Heard Good and bad.

Now if you do the 3.8 conversion there are some more installers down in the South Florida that can do it. BUt I wasnt to impressed with what I saw when I went there and checked it out.

Hope this helps

jhogans,
I would say go with Ed Parks at The Fiero Factory for a V6 install.
He is too honest, and he has saved me lots of money when he could have taken advantage of me with my lack of knowledge. Also he is not far from you.
If travelling is not a problem take it to V8Archie. He can nock out a V8 in a few days.
I bought my V8 kit from V8Archie, I liked Archie because I could get in touch with him and talk to him about the install. He had a decent installation video and the closest to having a complete kit. The only complaint that I had was his shipping took awhile, but it didn’t affect the installation because I worked on it at a snails pace.

Robert,

Thanks for the links. How much was your 3.8 install? If you don't mind giving out that info. What are the companies that you are
referring to in the South Florida area? Thanks for any info.

Spyder,

I have met Ed parks at his shop this past fall. He is a great guy. If I decide to do a 3.4 install, I will definetly use him.

If you go the Northstar route (like I am!) then I highly recommend Kevin Leslie at Design One in Oklahoma City. I visited his shop on the way to the swap meet in Alabama and was very impressed. He does a very high quality install and makes it look as though the Northstar was put in at the factory. It is a very expensive proposition, but the end result is sheer beauty.

You left out Twin Lakes Fiero. He does 3.4 crate engin conversions. New engine replacing the 2.8. Web page under construction. He's in Paxton, Ill. fierobob@illicom.net phone # 217 379 9140.

Another nice guy to do business with.

I did a 3.8 non supercharged with aces mail order kit. If you can weld or know someone who can, use a dril, and wrenches and can take out fiero engines you have it made in the shade. Me and my dad did it and it was not very difficult. If money is no object I would defenitely go with the northstar.

I am sorry forgot to answer

My instal cost about 5,000.00 total
But remember ...I sent it out there And paid them to do it. I didnt want the hassle. And paid a little extra for other things to be done, plugs, tranny mods. etc etc. I feel if your forking out thousands 4-5 thousand aint really that big of a jump. And look at the math...........

Stock Fiero GT less than 30k when bought not now...with tops....basically a new car

3800 SC engine installed right...I spent around 11,000.00 for a car the runs with alot of cars that new cost a heck of alot more. I TOTALLY LOVE THIS CAR !!No problems with it at all

But if you were to it yourself I think you can get the kit for like hmm around 1900.0 or 2,000.00..you can check with DAN3.8GT. He got the kit and had the install done himself.

Hope this helps

I got the kit back when it was 1500 got the engine and tranny and all the stuff out of a wrecked car for 1600 maybe spent about a 100 on small crap to finish it up. so 3200 I guess. Might cost you more if you have someone to do the welding. Hope this helps

My 86GT is at the Fiero Shop in Toronto receiving a 3800 II S/C engine right now. I found the engine at a local boneyard and had it shipped up. I am paying a little more, but Joe Trentedue knows his stuff. Check out their website at www.thefieroshop.com
