Some cars come to mind...
Fiat X/1-9...
A great car to drive, the one I had started rusting out in 5 years tho.
Triumph TR-7 (TR-8)...
Triumph bet the farm on this one and lost. The 7 was underpowered and the 8 was SPOOKY to drive (I still want another one, tho).
Toyota MR-2...
Gen I only, with the right stuff these cars scream.

You can find nice examples of all of these cars for not very much $$$ (except for the TR-8). Imagine having one of each, in a matching color to your FIERO

The most obvious is the AC 3000 from England (same company the Cobra came from) which appeared about 1972 and looks like where the Pontiac guys got a lot of styling ideas.

True story - a buddy of mine (who isn't really a car buff) once came over to my place and told me about this blue Fiero that was forsale down the street from him. Said it was like a newer style than mine was. I figured he meant the one blue 87 GT that's here in town and immediately went over to see it. Love blue GTs - really want one.

It was a 1988 Nissan Pulsar. And it had a hole in the trunk.

Oh well. Next time maybe I don't think we should add it to the list of cars though

I think the delsol has a notchback Fiero look to it.

I also think the Mitsubishi 3000GT looks a lot like what the 1990 Fiero would have been. I like the looks of them.

Here's the X1/9. Mine was reddish orange with a black gradient stripe down the side. Fun cars but plagued with problems. What can you expect when the car company is a front for the Italian mafia and used to export drugs out of the country. Great Bertone design though.

There's 5 more pictures here but I'll just post the link instead of putting them all here.

I had the same experience with the nissan pulsar. Lol my wife comes home and tells me that close to her work there was a sweet looking gold fiero for sale at this persons house. Well we live about 45 miles from where she works. So we hop in the old cutlass convertible and head up to see it. Much to my dismay it was a pulsar.

I can't find an AC 3000 either. At the AC Cars website all they list is different version of carbon fiber Cobras. I'd love to see the AC 3000 too.

I know they don't look alike, but has anybody ever parked beside a '90s 300zx?
My fastback has the same side profile, same body width and same roof height as the Nissan's... From the rear, I have mistaken them for Fieros.

Nice looking car

That is a pretty cool looking car from what you can tell in the picture. I guess it never made it past prototype since it is not listed in their homepage. A shame!

Was looking for more info on it since we got the ME3000 name. Not much luck really. ONe person said it was on supercars.net but I can't find it there. I recommend going to this site though. There are some cool versions of cars that I have never seen!

Two cars come to mind: the BMW M1 (from the front it sort of looks like a fiero with a kidney bean grille) and the AC Ghia. The AC Ghia was supposed to be a two seat midengined luxury car powered by a 3.0L V6, and is a dead ringer for a fastback Fiero GT with short sail panels. It even looks like it's got AusFiero's Stage 2 kit on it! I don't have a working scanner, but if anyone has a copy of the 1988 Motor Trend "How Ford Became #1" magazine it's on page 31. Very cool.

No, this one, not so much in the nose but, I love the back. When I see one I always wish it was a midengine Fiero.

I agree about the Daytona. I hate 'em!! I think it's a Fiero coming towards me, and get ready to wave, then realize it's a crappy Dodge.

I have mistaken the nissan 300zx for a fiero not once. It's those darn rear lights that always get me. I sure wouldn't mind swapping my front headlights with one, though. Those suckers are pretty quick...0-60 in about 6 seconds.

what about the Lotus Esprit? The 70's ones look like notchbacks, and the newer ones look like GT's.

The first time I saw one was in the James Bond movie Thunderball, with the white car that ran underwater. Looks like a Fiero coupe, and I think that's where I got my interest in the looks of the Fiero.

Hey Mike,

The DeLorean almost IS a Fiero, and is the only car I could see myself owning in place of a Fiero. The body panels are all fiberglass; the stainless steel is simply overlaid on top of the glass. It's got a rear mounted 2.8 V6. You don't get a trunk - they move it forward and you have a little shelf behind the seats instead. And, obviously, it looks just like a Fiero.

Performance is right on par with a V6 Fiero as well...

You can buy a low milage DeLorean in great condition for $17k-$20k. Even the beaters still go for close to $10k. DeLoreans are often misunderstood, just like Fieros. Despite what many believe, they don't break down any more often than the next car. They're really a great vehicle.

Before someone mentions it, no, John DeLorean was not a crack dealer. He was setup by the US Government and was cleared of all charges under laws regulating entrapment. DeLorean Motor Company was already in financial jeopardy and John DeLorean's arrest was one of the final nails in the coffin. Mr. DeLorean is also a very nice guy - he's made appearances at DeLorean shows, has signed people's dashboards for them, and even allowed other DeLorean owners (for the most part complete strangers) into his home just to "hang out" & chat.

Hmm, I just got rid of my Delorean (29,000 mile) and I'll have to say that it does break down a lot more than our Fieros do. They really aren't any nicer than a Fiero, the PRV-60 is noticably slower than our 2.8 and the handling is almost identical, maybe a little sloppier. The only thing better about the Delorean is that it is kind of a celebrity to drive around, everyone loves it. There is a lot more storage space in a Delorean, behind the seat and up front, but I never used the space. The Delorean is about 3 inches longer than a fiero, and about an inch higher off the ground (my estimate from looking at them together in the garage). I will tell anyone that goes from a Fiero to a Delorean, that they'll be dissapointed, the Fiero is a hundred times easier to work on, buy parts for, and is much better made.
Later,
Mike Schaefer http://surf.to/fiero
you can see pics of my old D on the site above, in the hybrid fiero section.
