Hi Iam glad I found this site ....I have had my 85GT IMSA sitting in my front yard for the last 5 yrs thinking one day ill get around to fixing her up .....well that day has come and gone ......and just before I called the tow truck to come cart her away to the graveyard I though to see if it was worth selling. Now I see there is alittle interest in it though I have no idea what its worth and would be appriecative of any input....I have also been asked to place pics inhere I assume ...though dont know how to go about this ...any advice would be appreicated ...sincerely Darren

i'm sure you will find a buyer for the car or the parts that are on it and make some cash in the process... as far as pic go... if you email me some pictures taht you want posted i'll take it from there. email them to theaura@hotmail.com
You might also want to give more details as far as options/milage history goes. This forum definitly has members interested in the IMSA style car. Would make a great starting point for a automoda convertible.

don't scrap it. location is a big (real big) problem, but somebody has to be interested in it. if nothing else try to get it as much apart as possible and someone is going to be interested in the imsa parts for their car as a set. piece it out as a last resort.

We found one around here and paid $600 for it. it was the 84 Pointy nose coupe widebody. 4cylinder, auto, 35k on the Ode. Sat for over 10 years in the weather and it showed, but it still ran. Sold it to another forum member for $1000 and I'm pretty sure he felt he got a good deal. I feel I could have had about 1500 to $2000 for the car in very bad shape.
The problem your going to run into, is finding a buyer. One of the Aussie guys may be interested.
Hi, Im from Australia, and I like what I see! What needs to be done to it? Got any pics of the interior? I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a project car, just a bit worried about shipping costs (as most people seem to be). More info on the vehicle would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tim

Those Centerlines are pretty rare. I'm looking at my copy of Pontiac Performance Plus and they look exactly like the ones on the Huffaker built tube frame IMSA cars, only not as wide. Actually, on page 122 it shows one of the Pontiac built IMSA Stage III Street Fighters with the same wheels pictured here. It's a black '85 using a built Super Duty engine, 4-speed trans with Webster racing gears and a 3.54 final-drive ratio. The article also states; "A new Saginaw electric power steering unit is employed so full steering is retained even with the engine turned of. An electric master cylinder provides the same benefit for the brakes." Do you have some of that equipment on your car Darren?

I am VERY interested in those body panels. If you are willing to part it out, PM or email me and we'll talk details. I would not be opposed to buying the entire car if I can get it to VA cheap enough.

yes sir. i'd love to be in the fray for that, but cash flow is too low. but for somene able, there's bound to be a military type who could have it shipped to the mainland as part of his belongings if they don't have a car already.

Out of curiosity, I just requested a quote from a shipping company for this to go to either San Francisco or Philadelphia. I am sssuming that the car does not run and can not be shipped RO/RO (Drive on/Drive off) and will need to go in a container. I have a strong hunch That it will be most cost effective to strip the wheels and the IMSA body parts and sell separately but we'll see.
ok, I was talking to Darren on AIM last night he said it'd cost $800 to get it to San Fran or Seattle. I almost had him talked into keeping it and thinking about a V8
Anyways, he said right now it doesn't run but he doesn't think it'd take much to get it running and he also thinks that he might be able to get it running. I also told him that you all would be screaming for interior and engine pics.
Just sso you all know, it's not my car. I got an email from someone offering me cash right away. I wish it was mine but it's not

Well thanks everyone for the interest ........sorry I have a had a very busy weekend ...... I have emailed some of you and Iam still unsure what the panels would be worth if I was to cut it up .........as for the rims/wheels does anyone have a clue ???? ......I dont wish to seem like I dont know what I have ...yet I really dont .
Thanks to Jeff you now have some pics ....Ill try to get some interior pics tomorow Jeff was correct in saying that it costs $800 to ship to the mainland and thats when its running ...which Iam very confident it can be in little to no time. I parked her 3 yrs ago and was running just fine.
As for further details...has little over 100,000 miles and when I was keen was thinking of replacing the engine .....I know the sunroof had a leak so a seal was in order......one tire has since suffered from weather ......one is brand new ..well 3 yrs ago. The paint job is in need of help ....I see some blistering of the gel/top coat some nicks on hood .........front skirt ?? has a tear in it where the previous owner hit a tire .......it has leather speaker seats (one I think it torn badly ) ......has a dual exhast ....interior is tan .....though trunk interior is grey ??.......has a stage 3 kit from KustumFX out of Illinois ....I have the invoices for the sale of the car , kit and instalation .......please email or post if anyone has further questions ...i hope this is helpful ........aloha Darren.

Darren, I have had a few people asking me about it. A number of them I think are serious about buying your car. I sent you an email to the Yahoo address regarding one and I gave another one of the members here your AIM name so that he can talk to you.

If someone would like to save some money in shipping this car to the US, find a friend stationed at one of the Military bases on Oahu. I believe they can ship their own cars for free. This would be complicated but possibly worth the savings.

I for one find hard to believe that anyone would consider just throwing that car away. Surely it could EASILY be sold on the island for far more than a wrecking yard would offer.
...funny that the "sitting in the front yard" time went from 5 years down to 3. Ok, alright, I'm just pissed because I can't afford it :-) I hope someone gets a great deal on that car.

I've never heard of KustomFX, what address and phone number do you have? Anyway, the question I have is about the stage 3 kit. Isn't it the fastback style? Stage 1 being based on a coupe with the coupe frontend and the Stage 2 being based off the Indy or an 85 GT Aero packages. then the Stage 3 fastback. Stage 2 kit.
Love the car Just to clear something up though, Those (unless I am mistaken) are not the centerline wheels. Those are dodge daytone wheels 15 inch but still very very nice.!!!! Randy

I have KustomFX literature/photos, postmark 1988. It includes a 8X10 color pic, with 11 3x4 (red coupe)pics, but 3 of the pics are of a black fastback showing the panels installed. $1275.00 (300 price reduction) for the full body kit. These are regular photos, not color copies. This was before IRM got into producing them. Looks like whoever orginally bought this kit did't elect to install the IMSA style rear deck wrap around spoiler they also offered at the time. Kustom FX addy was 400 N Bluff, Collinsville, IL 62234, 618-345-3347, I spoke with Clay. And those are Centerline wheels. The Dodge Daytonas wheel face is a flush design, and didn't have any rivets on the wheel. The Centerlines have a convex face, with smooth headed rivets around the perimeter of the wheel, but I think were only offered in 15inch? Post script, just dug out my KustomFX info, received in 1988

Cool deal Quad So you made the 2 days trip down to get them then .......cant wait to see what you do with them What color you thinking of finishing it in ??.........best of luck ...aloha Darren
I can confirm the shipping price to the U.S. Back in 1997 when I was getting out of the Navy I shipped a car from Honolulu to L.A. for $650 and it was there in less than two weeks. It is to bad I didn't know about this car when I was on the island. It would have definetly been mine if that was the case.
