I had been led to believe that these were going to be white lettered as that is the way I had seen them.
But when I contacted the guy back at Firestone, he said that the tires are black wall are correct as I had said that I wanted my Indy Fiero to look as close as possible to the one that paced in '84.
Sure enough, I went and looked at the pics of the original Indy Fiero again and the tires were not white lettered.

Pretty cool huh?

I sent them an e-mail last week just telling them what was going on and what I was trying to do.
As they are the official tire supplier to the Indy 500 I thought they might think it was kinda cool to see an Indy pace car pace a Nascar race.
Now I have a set of brand new official Indy 500 tires

I also sent the Indianapolis speedway an e-mail about this as well, but haven't heard back anything from them yet. Must be busy at the speedway right now as the Indy 500 is this Sunday.

Those are some cool tires. You should keep at least one of the stickers from them also.

They are a little slow to reply even in the off-season, but you're right, they're VERY busy right now. You won't likely receive a reply for quite some time.

Now let me get this straight... you got those tires for FREE, and you can KEEP them?

Awesome!

It even was going to cover the mounting and balancing, but, I think I will pass on getting the mounting and balancing as I have only one place I trust that does that.
City Tire in West Lebanon NH.
I don't want my new shiny surprise rims to get scratched or damaged or anything
I trust only City Tire to touch any of my Fieros.

Man that's sweet you need to hook everyone else up with the info too. My only question is how are you putting 15s on Indy rims that are 14s or do you have the original Indy rims? Just curious

Hmmm, that is a very good question
Would be kinda difficult huh?

I guess you are just going to have to wait and see

yeah i was gonna ask the same question. My bet is he has dodge daytona rims that look like the indy rims. If you want it to look as close as possibly on the outside, are you gonna paint the black molding white?

Nothing will be permanently done to my Indy that can't be easily changed back at any time, so keeping that in mind painting the trim is obviously out

You could put white vinyl tape over the body strip. It would then peel off if you wanted to return it to original.

I'm guessing Rob and Renee have something to do with this...I seem to remember a set of wheels they were thinking about selling...of course, I could be wrong.
