Well I forget where these came from and foudn them on my hard drive today. I figured why not make a Fiero prototypes gallery. Here is 63 images to start with in the 84 prototype gallery. Click Here For The Gallery
There's really a lot of great stuff on that car that got dropped. I love the front end. The interior looks larger. The dashboard looks better. It has a cool pistol grip shifter. Still only a vent on the driver's side (never did understand that one) but I like the long vertical design.
Funny that in the end they changed the entire frame design.
Photos 15, 32, 37, 52, 62, and 63 show left hand drive setups. As for space, notice in #63, the wide lip at the rear door jamb and at the A-pillar behind the mirror. Also, I noticed a heavy shoulder bolster on the inboard side of the driver's seat. Was it being planned for performance?

Check out the rear suspension pic of the red one. Doesn't that look strangely like an 88 rear suspension? It's certainly not an 84-87. Does this mean they had the good suspension on the drawing board and prototyped way back in 82-83?

From what I understand (and I could be wrong), the suspension originally was going to be something like what eventually appeared on the 88. It was vetoed early for cost reasons.
Thats Citation / Fiero control arms on the back of it.
I read something too about the suspension that debuted in 88 was designed early on in the Fiero's life, that along with the plan to have the V6 in the car for the model year.
The Book by Gary Witzenburg has a wealth of information about the Fiero prototypes in it. A definite must read.
