The 90 looked like a Firebird of sorts to me. Now a notchback would look more "Fiero" to me. Speaking about more Fiero, what engine size was the 90 going to have? Would they dare put a 3800 in it and "kill" their Vette?

Actually, it's the other way around. The Firebirds looked like the 90 prototype .
There a quite a few elements in the proto that seem to have made their way to production cars, though.
Having two types would have also cost more money. GM hates spending excess money kinda makes since to not have two models for money reasons. However, I liked thay we had two models who could live without formulas, GTs, SEs, etc. I'm just glad they made it.

Yea when the 1990 was open and i hopped in and made myself at home i took a peek at the door, it had a prototype final build date of 1986... Thats before that body style of firebird came out aint it? So wouldnt the firebird have jack the Fiero style?

I heard it was crushed, but who knows? I found these on my hard drive:
Those photos was taken by a friend of mine Dave Clee during a tour of the holding yard. They did say they was crushed but Dave got back from Detroit last week and has since been told they decided to make one good one from all of them and then crushed the rest. So there is still one notchie in existance.

Actually, after about 3 months of investigating these 3 cars, i finally got in touch with a big wig a GM that stated these were the '89's (GT,formula, and coupe), they were recently crushed--all three) as of last year), believe me i tried like hel! to get them, they said they were crushed, and even if they still had them, they couldn't sell them because of safety reasons. But he was positive they were '89's. I put ALOT of time in searching for these cars and getting info on them! I was dead set to buy them if i had the chance...Jim('86GT) p.s. These cars also resemble the '88's alot more than they do the '90 proto.

Trust me, they made one good one out of them to keep. Yes they are 89s and GM led people to believe they was crushed, even Dave who took the photos, even Jim Mattison of Pontiac Historical Services. Dave was in Detroit last week and spoke to those in the know. 1 exists. The others were crushed over 2 years ago, not last year.
I just wish I wasn't building my house at the time of that tour 4.5 years ago as I would have been in the holding yard myself.
