Oh yea, I rock when it comes to car shows ! The 20th was my 2nd car show ever, and for those of you who aren't familiar with my luck, take a look at this past posting where I went to my first car show ever on the wrong day: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/029965.html
Anyway, so needless to say I was really excited to go to the 20th show. I planned on going Friday thru Sunday. I was also going to meet PFF member PontiacSound there, who had just built a custom sub console box for me (I haven't fully installed it yet, but pics can be seen here: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/031657.html )
So I got up Friday morning and BAM! I felt a kidney stone starting (this would be my 4th stone, and if you have ever had one, you really can tell when it is happening again). Dammit, there was no way I was going to miss the 20th, so I hurried and "packed" my Fiero GT, got the fiancee' Jen ready (whom I didn't tell that I was in pain from the stone until well into the trip to Pontiac from Columbus, OH because I didn't want her to talk me out of going) and left by 10 am.
With me sweating the whole way (and getting my kidney beat up even more on I-75 - 1 more reason for this Buckeye to say "F" Michigan ), we got there about 2 pm, got unpacked, checked into the hotel room, and was sitting at Applebee's when the stone began to try to leave my kidney (worst pain ever! ).
We got directions to the nearest emergency room and Jen drove me there. I then spent 2 hours in pain and vomiting in the waiting room because there wasn't an ER room available. When I was finally called back to a room, I was only in there for about 5 minutes (put on the paper dress, got an i.v., and got shot up) before they pushed my bed out into the hall I just came from because they had needed the room for other patients (um, why the hell didn't they just do that 2 hours earlier is a mystery). I then spent the next 4 hours just sitting there stoned in the bed in the hallway as I was trying to fully pass the stone. At 10 pm, they finally discharged me with a prescription for pain killers and the stone still "traveling". Then spent most of the next day (Saturday) taking the pain pills and peeing in the strainer (to catch the stone as it came out).
I finally passed it Sunday morning. And I have been extremely sore since
The best part was that my luck was so bad, that I didn't even "win" the Hard Luck trophy at the 20th because a guy who raced his Fiero at Waterford messed it up real bad (so I heard) and he "won it".
I hope the Fiero Gods to take it easy on me at the "Fiero Fever 2003" show next month.
Again, your comments of laughter and/or pity will be greatly appreciated.

Lou Dias needs to pipe up here. He & his g/f drove 12 hours one way to see the show but he thought it was on Sunday (!!! Did he NOT see my webcam??), not Saturday. They got to see everyone (myself included) packing up our cars.

I really felt sorry for Dias. I was able to meet him. I opened my engine compartment so he could take pics. I wished I would of given him a ride but I had already loaded it on the trailer.

I had a kidney stone a couple of years ago. It wouldn't pass and was the size of a pea ( I saw it in the X-Ray and cat scan). It actually was stuck between the kidney and the bladder in the little tube, and it was ripping it every time it tried to move making my urine very bloody. I had to have lithotripsy done to break it down so it would finally pass. I too was throwing up from the intense pain it caused. I felt like I went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson after the procedure and had a Black and Blue mark for a month. I hope I never get another one and feel your pain.
I vote for most devoted too. a few years back I had my 1st stone, went to the emergency room at 3:00am and when I went to the counter the Nurse said you've got a kidney stone don't you? Having never had one I said I don't know but I've never had pain like this, she said hang on and took me right in and they gave me a morphine shot and heated blanket, Man I was in heaven for a short bit, then the stone passed. If you've never had a stone thank your stars.

...what the hell you suppose to do with it, keep it in a display case on the fireplace mantle?
Adam, Ha! No, the reason you use the strainer is 2 fold: 1) is you can have it analyzed to see what it is made of (mine are made up mostly of calcium due to the most part from drinking dark colas); 2) you know for sure that you passed it (trust me, you normally know the moment it leaves [but you can be on some goods meds and miss it] so its more for reason #1).

Man I'm sorry to hear about that, my mom had them twice and they said it is the next worse pain to a heart attack.
To keep you up to speed the giant arguing thread is now in the trash can, but P.M. me your address and I'll send you the hard luck trophy and make sure everyone knows you deserve it. The CFOGI officials basically just said " you get the hard luck trophy cause you sustained the most damage " after I called them on the carpet for NOT judging my car cause it couldnt run. I didnt want to make the awards banquet a disaster by standing up and telling them they can stick the trophy up thier wazoo due to unfair decisions and judging. I wasnt looking for a trophy , but an apology from Bob Holtz in front of everyone that he screwed up.
Hope your feeling better.............
P.S. the engine didnt die due to waterford, it died after we got back for some unknown reason.
My guess is that it died due to detonation. When the engine overheated, you were probably detonating really bad which just tore up the bottom end.
Good conclusion, my engine shop just said the same thing, which is one of the reasons I kept shutting it down when it got hot but it must not have ben soon enough.

Thanks, but no thanks. I was only joking around about having luck so bad that I didn't even win the bad luck trophy

Lou and his GF had just arrived when we were finishing loading up to leave. He came up and asked when the judging was going to start and we told him it was yesterday. I thought his GF was going to cry, she was so disappointed. He took a lot of pictures of the Finale on the trailer and we waited for him to finish before we left, he took some of Cadero's 4.9 as well. I think he even took some of Blakeinspace's car too. I hope there were enough cars left for him to get his Fiero fix. I felt bad for them missing the show like that, he seems like a really good guy.

Yes, I did bring my 87 GT, it was parked next to PontiacSounds orange "project six" notchback. Mine has the new subwoofer center console that he made.
