So is there some story behind this that I'm missing? I know the car has fiero interior, motor setup and all.. but what on earth is a firebird badge doing on there? I've seen pics of it before now I must ask.

this was explained quite a few times. In another thread it noted there were pictures on the ground of the 90 proto and its had a skunk badge and said something underneath it (sorry forgot what, lol) as a joke. They apparently replaced the skunk with an old trans am badge, better than having an outline with a hole in the middle

nah, actually its a trans am, its just on a fiero frame with a fiero interior and a fiero mid-mount engine thats been seen in a fiero design studio, advertised as a fiero in publications and its at a fiero show

People get their panties all up in a bunch about this, but keep in mind that this IS (or WAS) a prototype. Did anyone stop to think that GM does everything they can to keep the new models out of the spy photos. Did you ever see the pictures of the first few Fieros that had Subaru badges? Until it hits production, NOTHING, and I mean nothing, is etched in stone, so don't sweat the badges.

I always thought that the Trans AM was just another fancy Fiero re-body.

It still had the trim piece with "Fiero" on the rocker sils.

Who knows, but curiosity has me on what the real story is about it. Were they thinking of adding a second car to the Fiero line... a mid-engine trans-am?

It was a picture of a skunk with the word "WORKS" underneath, a reference to the Lockheed Skunkworks that built the U2, SR-71, and F-117 stealth fighter, among other things.

I have a 1990 nose badge! Really no joke here! I got it from a good friend who was doing work for Dott Industries in Michigan[they have a web site]. He was given 2 they were going to throw away. Mine is chrome with a rased black horse with a black Fiero on top. The lettering is a little differnt but not much. The one he kept is black with a red horse and white Fiero on top. If you look at the pictures of the 1990 coupes they have the black badges on them. I am new to digital picture so if someone can tell me how to post here I will put pictures of both out. I will also be at the Norwalk show with the chrome badge on my car if anyone wants pictures. The black one may be there on a 1987 GT. I am very greatful to my Friend for the badge! Again, if anyone wants the pictures please show me how to post or give me your e mail address and I will foward them.

Badges?? BADGES?? We dont need no stinkin badges!!

I think the car would look smoooother without or at least a diecut or painted on emblem, at least flush mounted. But, Yeah I'd like to see what the production badge was supposed to be also. did they redesign it any? I can do what ever you like to the image.. send my way and I'll have it posted asap! (I live at the puter) L8
