My girlfriend and I came down from Hamilton Ontario Friday, we were planning on going to the Milan dragstrip and watching the races. Sadly, about 5 kms into Detroit from the border my fuel pump died. Ahhh! What a place to break down too. If you were in the area around noon you might have heard about me on a traffic report

Not fun, lemme tell ya. Eventually we flagged down a flatbed tow truck and we got a lift to the nearest Autozone.

A couple hours later we were back on the road. The funny thing is, after returning the old fuel pump (one month old!!!) and all the gas we saved from not driving down to the dragstrip, I almost made money from breaking down Got a nice new AC Delco fuel pump in there now, nice and quiet.

Anyways, once we got to the Pontiac Lake campground and went to the hotel (was it just me or were the directions to the hotel online TERRIBLE?!?! ) and checked out the cars and stuff we had a great time. Met a lot of nice people and saw some sweet Fieros. Had a good drive back, met up with some GTA and Ottawa Fiero owners at a rest stop. (not every day you run into a Fiero caravan.

Sounded like you had an interesting trip. Glad to see you still made it though. I wish I had went, oh well.
Isn't the fuel pump in the tank?
Just wondering how you changed in in a parking lot?

damn, looks like you had to buy a new hydraulic jack and tools too. Sorry about your luck. These things almost always happen when you're like a gazillion miles from home...

You do it very carefully

Yeah, its in the fuel tank. Not the first time I've changed the pump, so it wasn't too bad this time.

I had to buy the jack and jack stands, yeah... but I returned them when I was done I wouldn't have had room to take them with me anyways, the trunk was packed with camping stuff.

Ah well, it could have been a lot worse. At least what broke was something I could pretty easily fix on my own.

Hi Brad, glad to see you made it home in one peice. You we're gone bright an early from the campgrounds! We left around 10ish, went looking for that Auto Zone, finally found it but they didn't have my Tint I wan't. So they said up the street was Advanced auto parts, when we got to the store, we realized it was the same store we stopped looking for the Auto-Zone and did a U-turn to go back to the campsite. Another 100 meters (behind a bridge) was the Auto-Zone we where looking for.
