I'm reposting this because I have the first Carbon Fiber Headliners rolling off soon and had gotten some reponse when speaking of it before of a few individuals that wanted first run units at a discount for testing and evaluation.
Also, I am still in need of a Volunteer to donate his T-Top liner for us to use as a mold and return. It should be undamaged and for your efforts you will receive a free Carbon Fiber T-Top liner as a thank you for your help.
There were a couple of people that had said they would send the t-top but I don't recal who they were and had said that I wouldn't ask for them until we are ready... which we are now.
We are also molding 3rd brake light covers for the Fiero in Carbon Fiber as a stand alone and to accent liner installs.
Finally, we are going to go ahead and build the four Bezel Pieces in Carbon Fiber for the Fiero Interior. Main & Aux bezels, Radio Surround and Shift Surround.
QUESTIONS FOR YOU...
What kinds of accents would you like to see on ANY of these pieces I've mentioned?
What OTHER kinds of CF pieces would you like to see?
I've also been tinkering with the idea of making CF liners for the inside of the Notch and Fastback "wing" panels there behind the rear window. And possibly the Interior Door trip pieces (a-pillar and b-pillar covers and door surrounds) Any thoughts on these?
In order of priority, what would you like to see first?
I know alot of you are at the 20th and I would really have liked to have these done to show there but unfortunately with moving the fab shop there just wasn't time.
Our Interior Kits are back under production and the last group buy went nicely. Thanks to those that ordered.
Kits are still available and we can promote another group buy if there is enough interest.
Wow, this sounds great...I was thinking of replacing my headliner with an origional but now that I heard this! Yeah, maybe the inner door handle and lock surround would also be cool in CF. It would help it blend through the whole car.
If you need a sunroof headliner tester, I'm here for ya.

I for one would donate a set of vavle covers for a northstar if your could mold some in carbon fibers. I would love a set of them for my motor instead of my painted ones.
BTW I should be ordering a headliner soon DKOV.
------------------ N*,13" stoppers, 18s, completely rebuilt, oh yea and this:
What the hell is a shiter surround, your butt cheeks? (sorry couldn't resist)
Seriously though, I'd love a full set of interior pieces including the door handle surrounds. How much does a full set cost? I've been looking on ebay but it seems like the ones there are just fake c/f sheets with self adhesive that you have to cut out yourself.

How much would the price be on some of these items. Price would probally be a determining factor as to how large of a piece I would want to be produced. Make sense?

Wow... and here I was thinking that nobody was interested or had replied... apparently the software didn't send out the "you have replies" message!!!
Thanks everyone for your terrific responces.
I'll go through them as best I can...
- An entire Carbon Fiber dash is not likely. We do have a slick Interior replacement kit that can utilize CF accents but the whole kit and caboodle is not really cost effective
- Door latch surround and handle... good idea. Lots of curves. Something to consider. Thanks!
You got a sunroof liner you want to donate? email me please.
- finish pictures... not of the head liners yet but from the first few protos I've seen, it's like a MIRROR. Look up and see yourself looking back down at you. VERY nice work. We use the same process to build these as we do for the high gloss front decklids built for Import Tuners. Very nice.
We have some "pre-production" pics of the interior CF parts though... The production pieces will be done in solid High Gloss, not the quick medium these were done in for development.
- Shiter sourrounds have been done before. SHIFTER surrounds we are already doing LOL!!!
- Valve covers... didn't consider those either. Good idea!
- fake CF decal sheets. yes... we've seen them too. Used them in fact to help plot the carbon patterns we wanted. Cheap and easy way to play with concepts.
HOWEVER, these new pieces we are talking about are not decals nor the plastic CF looking adhesive covers. These are fully molded replacement pieces of high gloss UV/Fade resistent high grade Carbon Fiber. Entirely different arena.
- We've been building CF decklids for the Tuner Market for other companies. They own their own molds and we simply produce. They are not our own. We could build our own molds for CF decks for the Fiero but it is costly and would need to be assured of some serious numbers behind them.
It's a thought though.
- Timing Cover for the 3.4L TDC... you know I'm in for that one!!! We'll see.
- Full door panels. It's a posibility. Just remember that the more curves and assembled components the hard the CF Cloth is to lay up and keep straight. Cost of molds and build is an issue here. Still, not a bad visual!
- Nebiros88... I was hoping you'd post. I had lost all your info. I am still open for the deal as described before. Please email me.
Yes, I am the same DKOV (is there another?) that is doing the new 5 and 6 speed HD trannies. Yes, I'm spread pretty thin. Yes, I'll get it all done
- Pricing... Some of this is an unknown as of yet. We are really working to keep the part in line with and even competitive with Fiberglass parts despite their obvious improvements. Don't hold your breath though... we may be a bit higher. It depends on what we feel is a reasonable response from you folks and how many we should build at once and the subsequent discount for the materials. Obviously, we can fit many more small parts on a sheet than decklids or headliners so volume here is key...
More to follow...
Thanks again,
DKOV -

Sand the car go back in to the shiter& console, next day...same thing!
Now we all know why steve and the smooth mobile have never been seen!!

Ze Doktor recommends a Fieroscopy to zetermine if ze console could be rejuvinated in vhat might (in ze future) be referred to as "ze new miracle carbon fiber material".

I sell the Dash and Door Panels posted in that post. They are NOT CF panels though.
There was a thread here on Pennocks about the dash kit... I'll try and find it
------
Carbon Fiber is similar yet very different than Fiberglass in that it is a carbon composit weave and much stronger than fiberglass, much more attractive to look at (beautiful in fact), much lighter than Fiberglass... but MUCH harder to work with and much more expensive. It is easy to bind up the fiber and since it is visible, if you do the part is ruined.
When done properly, it looks like glass or a mirror with the weave clearly visible through the clearcoat.
-------
Revin - Excellent idea!!! In fact, I love it. We do have a sub-coating embossing we can do that we have been using for DMS identified products outside of the Fiero world... Sounds like any of the Fiero Logos embossed in the CF is PERFECT!!! Thanks!!!

DKOV, IF you still need it. I have a excellent condition T-Top headliner in my GT. I will let you barrow it if you promise to return it to me in the same condition I even think I have a way to get it up to you. It’s pretty late and I'm really tired, I'll contact you tomorrow.

I hope you realize that it is nearly impossible to get the headliner out of a t-top in one piece. You will need to cut the weatherstrip out of the chanel & tear the fabric away from the metal frame. also the hole for the dome light is so large that there is about 1/4 in of board left on each side. When I recovered mine, it literally fell apart in my hands. These panels were cut to shape in place at the factory. I had to get a new backer board, fiberglass reinforce it & rivet steel straps through the dome light opening & it was still pretty weak.
The best thing to do is find someone without a headliner, have them install a regular backer board, mark around the opening and send the entire board to you.

Easy fella nothing to big and ricey looking. just a little 1/4 -1/2" high. kinda...well shoot DKOV YOU are the man! I am just the a little idea man
What about a CF piece to replace the carpeted piece that goes behind the seats? seems like it would be fairly simple to fab and would add a "finished off" look to the headliner and "other" pieces you come up with!
OK OK I would be happy to be your "test dumbie" (I have been called worst! )
- T-Top end caps? I guess I'm not sure what you are referring to. Have a pic?
- Coolcat... Thanks for the offer. Gordo is correct though, they don't come out easy. I'd much rather someone send me a bad one than a perfect one. It's up to you though. We'll do our very best to protect it and get it back to you in perfect shape but there IS risk.
- Website... is www.dkovmotorsports.com and UNDER CONSTRUCTION. If we'd quit coming up with new products, we'd actually be caught up with pictures and time and have the thing UP by now. But it is in the works and forthcoming. Stay tuned.
Overhead Lights are a good option. Design instensive with all the underside stuff to support but completely possible.
Costs of kits... other than the costs of our existing non-CF dash kits components, they will be along shortly. No final pricing yet, only targets. Some of these items you all have suggested are brand new to me and the designs so we don't even have estimates yet.
The full Interior swap kits with panels, bezels, mounting hardware, latch mechanisms, vents for the dash, doors and center are $1900 retail, $1700 Pennock's Group Buy or lower with group volumes. They are straign bolt in kits and use all the original Fiero bolt locations.
- Tail Lights... hmmm....
- Not to ricey... I'll keep that in mind
Actually, your comment about carpet inspired me... I'm working a mold RIGHT NOW to do a CR insert to replace the carpet piece on the bottom of the doors. That should look pretty nice! Thanks again!
- Aux pods are done but a 3-pod is an intersting idea. Built for what, standard 2 inch autometer gauges? Interesting idea...
What about a CF piece to replace the carpeted piece that goes behind the seats? seems like it would be fairly simple to fab and would add a "finished off" look to the headliner and "other" pieces you come up with!
I like this idea - along with the door carpets and headliner - would really tie the car together -
DKOV If you think that I will be putting my headliner in jeopardy then how’s this sound. My headliner in the GT is almost brand new and hasn’t deteriorated so I can remove it with ease. Since I can remove mine and because T-Top head liners are made from normal solid roof headliners, I will take mine out and put a spare solid roof one that I have in the car and trace it to make it into a T-Top one. How does that sound? The only thing you have to decide is weather you want me to actually cut my spare or just trace and mark it were it needs to be cut.
