what it used to look like:

this is what the car looks like right now:

the missing parts are all at the paint shop and will be finished tomorrow. i can't wait....

the car is getting a monochrome paint job, AUS's stage 2 scoops, hoodscoop, decklid scoops and a different wing, neon underbody lights and daytime running light so that i can drive with the headlights down.

more to come

i know the car is dusty as hell, that is all from sanding the scoops.

the decklid is getting 2 old thunderbird scoops bought from a forum member. i bought an extra decklid in germany from a really nice fiero owner in hamburg.

the idea:

the cut:

test fit, the scoops have 4 studs on the back that are easily cut of and sanded down, same with the partnumbers and stamps on the back of the scoop. cant have it saying ford on the back of it. the scoops fit almost perfect to the curve of the hulp on the decklid

glassed in from the top using the resin with fibers allready mixed in and some bricks to hold them down, put plenty of it on the back to fill in between the "bars" that are on the structual part of the lid

fiberglass cloth and resin from the back to hold it in place

then i just smothed it a little(read a lot, this is what takes the time)

hans

still more to come, (edit for pics and again)
next is the hood with what was mentioned not long ago, late mustang style sidescoops. that must be a tease for tomorrow, have to get a good night of sleep. probably wount get any tomorrow as i get all the parts back from the paintshop and "have to put ALL the parts on tomorrow.

that's pretty damn cool looking... have you checked clearances to make sure it's going to close without hitting the engine?

i actually didn't check the clearances until a friend of mine asked if there was room for it, i layed something(cant remember what) on the plenum and closed it, plenty of room. now i definatly know it fits. its onthere now with no problem.

ran into a little problem... the rivets i bought to hold the ground fx are to small. now of to the fierostore for orininals.

The decklid looks great! The scoops fit amazingly well. Can't wait to see the rest of the modified parts. I might have to steal some of your ideas for my SE.

the rivets i have look exaktly like these from the fierostore, but are way to small, they dont split into 3 "hooks" like the originals

what else could i use, i need to get my lower door molding fastened somehow.

btw i can tell you that the paintshop did a great job on colormatching.

will post pics of the front hood soon.

here it goes. these are sidescoops of a 99 mustang i think, bought of ebay. this was my idea:

i put on tape across the hood to be able to draw a little better. the front of the tape is were i wanted the back of the scoop. the little line you see next to it is the center of the hood.

as you see in the following pic i had to trim the scoops a little on the center part in order to get a little material at the outer edges by the headlights. on the back there is some mounting things that are just cut away. glassed in and again briks to hold it down, they are a little curved that required some weight to straighten while hardening

from the rear

lots of fibers and resin, some on the front some on the back

then plenty of the premixed stuff(resin and fibers) to buildup the curve at the front to straighten it. and sanding, apply more of it and sand again. man i've kreated mounts of dust.

my new rims, 215/45-17 front and 225/40-18 rear. the outer edge is polished stainless steel...

the shine is incredible, even the guy at the shop was crazy about them

and for a finished look down the left side:

edit: i know the car is sitting high, because it has been lifted of the ground.

what do ya think

One of the things that I really like about this forum is seeing really exceptional visions come to life. Excellent job!!! I would have never thought of using the Mustang Scoops like that. I really like the decklid scoops. My only concern would be that water would run right off the decklid onto the hot exhaust manifold which could cause a crack.
