OK everybody, First off, I would like to thank all of you who contributed to making last weekend such a success. In order to make this project all it can be, we have decided to follow the example of collaboration shown by the Michigan Fiero Club and CFOGI and fold all the best that was recorded into the final product. We auditioned what we could while we were there and collected some incredible footage, but now that you are all home and reminiscing through your videos and pictures, you may come across something extraordinary that you may think we should include. Film and photo submissions are still being taken. Please mail a COPY (which can be returned by request only) of your submission (miniDV, 8mm video, VHS, VHS-C, floppy disc, CD-r or zip. Preferably in the highest quality format you can get me.) with a signed release available at http://dv.sastian.com/docs/MATERIAL_RELEASE.rtf to the address listed below. If we end up using your submission in the final product you will receive a free copy of the final DVD.
Just to clear things up. This film is sanctioned by CFOG-i and is the only official film. Contact Dale Starcher (VP CFOG-i) for verification. (dalelee22@cs.com) The final DVD will be made available through the website. An online order form is being developed and will finished later this week. Whether or not we will offer a VHS version has not been decided, mainly because it may take 2 tapes.
Post-Production begins full-time Sept 1, 2003 with a completion deadline of Dec 1, 2003, although it may be completed sooner. What that means to you is that for the next month, you the customer, get to let us know what you want.
Just to keep this thread tame, I'll layout what the current plans are. The DVD will be chaptered chronologically with the following features. This is subject to change based on footage submitted. Those events with an asterisk are not definite because we may not have good footage. If you were able to cover them, please feel free to submit your footage or photos.

Sastian, you need to put an asterisk beside the Hulki speech, since my battery died 5 minutes into it. I only missed 5 minutes of the speech, but we need to have it complete! Also, I think we need a clip or two of the campgrounds.

I dont recall a camera at the campground (lake pontiac) Unless I missed it while we slept.. lol But I'll message those that we're there to see. I heard I was filmed pulling in to the show late (red 308) and I believe this is the only proof I was even there. would be nice to see the footage. And I hope someone was around with a camera when Paul fired up the SS.. Thanks and can't WAIT!!

Hey, good to see you guys made it back! Took us FOREVER to get back to MA, and I'm still wiped out. You can definitely count me in for a copy, I want to see how our Duct-taping job worked out!! And of course the awesome view from the top floor. Thanks for letting me help out at Waterford! I can't wait to see the video... - Bob

We are selling it for $25.00 that includes tax and shipping. the online form will be up by this weekend. thanks for bearing with us.
That's a phenomenal price considering the effort you guys are putting into it. Any thoughts on how long (length of film? 1 hour? 2 Hours? 5 Hours?) it will be? I'll be buying one as soon as they become avaiable. If it's everything I hope it is I might even buy 2 so I can put one in a safety deposit box at the bank for safe keeping :-)
yes, ditto for me too...i guesss that's what? $200 Cdn? haha, jk, can i send a cheque? (but where?), i know it'll take a litle longer to clear, but i'm good 4 it! tata now

Yes, that was me. I'd be happy to send you the miniDV if you send it back to me as it is the original. I have no way to make a copy of a miniDV. Let me know...just send me a private message on this board.

ugh! finally coming up for air. had a crazy week so far. monday - wednesday I was working on location in Chicago on a film shoot til about 1:15am each night. (non-fiero related) and then i hear news that someone close to our family has passed away last night. so i havent looked at a computer till right now.. so that paypal form may be bumped back a few days. sorry to those anticipating. I also talked with steve yesterday and he informed me that film will be in the mail soon. So theres some progress. I am also planning on putting a MT blog on there so i can keep from filling up this thread with news. although I really love the feedback I get here.

On your web site, it tells people to send in a copy of the video. If someone shot theirs in VHS or VHS-C, the transfer into the digital domain of your system from a 2nd generation tape may loose significant quality. I've seen that happen in the past. I've seen compilation tapes made both ways with the one based on 2nd generation tapes looking much poorer.
Since they will have a chance to get the footage back on DVD, people may be willing to give you their camera tapes. If they have significant additional footage on the tape, they may be willing to send you the postage so that you can return the tapes.
I follow ya now. good question. I was just following the form lingo on the release, which is there for a few good reasons. Not only is it there for liability issues. (not pretty if i or the infalable post office looses someones only tape of the show) But we're unfortunatly not going use every tape sent. But let me assure every measure will be taken to get the highest quality attainable. For example, a recent sumission we recieved in VHS format showed us about 2-5 minutes of video out of a 30 minute tape tht i know we will want to use. In that case i contacted the owner and asked if he had the original ( which I assumed correctly was on mini DV) I'll be using the original only after it's duplicated and then mailing it back when we're done. But if we had to mail back each and every "audition" tape we'd be spending waaay too much time at the post office.
Thanks for your concern, Christian
