Is this an actual Decah kit that is modified to fit a Fiero or is it a copy of a Decah kit? Will it be backed by Decah or B&B in case of problems?
Say's 'Modded kit...
EDIT: So, I would assume that since the kit is MODDED that it is B&B's baby now... Would you back a kit you made and sold to someone that modded it to fit a Honda Civic..and sold it??

I asked the question because I have seen the Decah kit on Curley's car... A "modified Decah kit" could be a new design that is closely related to the kit that Decah puts out.. I wanted to know what the case is, and if the quality of the kit is the same as the Decah one if it is a new design...
Also, from what I know, Decah totally supports this Fiero venture and it is a standard modification. It's not like someone bought it, butchered it, then sold it... Again.. That is why I was asking...

It is a Decah kit, we are making the additional hardware necessary to use on the Fiero. It will be backed by both of us as we are not changing the original Decah kit. Joyce

i don't know if this has been asked before in another thread... but how much do the door wires need to be lengthened to allow the door to travel up and out... or do the original wires have enough slack in them?

They do need to be lengthened, we will supply the extra wire and connectors necessary with the kit. Joyce

I Love this Place!!!
Thanks for bringing another quality product to the market. When will the kits be available? Thanks in advance.
------------------ If you find my advice useful, then please give me a positive rating, thanks...
I'm drooling on my keyboard. >gets up to go get a napkin< If it's pretty much a bolt on kit with only one extra drilled hole needed in the door, then I take it that it is a pretty straight forward install? An extra $500. to have B&B install them doesn't sound too bad, except that your in Florida which for anyone in New England for example that might be interested it is quite a haul. So when is someone going to offer Gull wing door conversions?

Can you more accurately describe where this inner lip trimming occurs? Do you think that it would work with IRM type intergrated rockers, or would they need trimming as well?

I applaud your work and the best of luck with the business...
One thing I have never understood... why are these so expensive? any lambo doors are spendy, from any company... All I see is pressed steel and a lift. I could bet you anything if the kits were sold for $1000 or so you would sell 5-10x the amount.
Never'the'less I will most likely end up buying a kit from you guys so its all good with me. Keep up the good work.

Not to pick on you specifically, but people "simplifying" a product down to it's base materials is quickly becoming a pet peeve of mine...
R&D is extremely expensive (so recouping initial costs can take a long time)... also - Decah sells the base kit for about $1200-$1300... which is then adapted specifically for the Fiero (this isn't free) by the vendor. Beyond that, some people actually do custom automotive parts for a living - meaning that they have to make a profit to survive. - so the "pressed steel & lift" are mark'd up from the material supplier, then market up by the original manufacturer, and again by the customizer... seems pretty reasonable that way!
Think of it like this... why are cars so expensive? They're just metal & plastic - right?
Like I said... I'm not picking on you here - but this isn't the first topic I've seen like this lately!
*oh yeah... the other route would be to purchase another style of hinge assembly (like the street dreams design) and do more of the design & customization work yourself. This could initially save you nearly $1k - but I think you'd probably make up the difference in time & effort

I totally understand Minn... I know B&B has no way to change the price that Decah sets... + they aren't charging as much as others have to customize them, which I'm greatful for.
These do seem one of the more simpler products to make (just going by pictures appearance) So the price has nothing to do with B&B... more about why decah charges so much... but thats supply and demand.... they can charge whatever they want and if you want it bad enough you'll pay the price.
hey i know this is a little off topic but whats up with the back part of the roof bein cut off? or is it supposed to be like that and i've just never seen it b4? is there a suprise in store for us?

Man, you can't. FIrst off, the doors have no frame around the window, so you'd need new doors.. And the roof would have to be gutted T-Top style (You can't have them hinged to the side of the roof, they would require 3-4 feet to open them.. So then back to the doors, would have to be TOTALLY custom, to fit into the 't-top' roof.. THen there is the matter of counterbalancing them.. I mean, it COULD be done, but it wouldn't exactly be a flawless gullwing door.. Just buy a Bricklin (I'd say delorean, but I need some left for when I have enough cash).

I'm guessing rebody of some sort

Not to be a stick in the mud but I agree with MinnGreen
$1600 for a couple of shunks of steel, a hinge, and a hydraulic ram seems a bit steep. Let me put it another way, I paid $1200 for my last FIVE Fieros combined (2 Indy's, 2 GTs, and an 88 Coupe).
You can see my problem. This isn't a turbo set-up with dozens of fine tuned moving parts, mandrel bent steel, hoses, wires, and electronic firmware; it's a chunk of steel.
Looks like ole Bob may be going to put out a 355 with Lambo doors.. You have to cut the roof like that to do a 355 coupe. That's the only way to make the side window functional and put in the curved rear glass.

Those frame modifications (the choping of the rear glass and quarter area) are required to do 355 Coupe conversions, and to properly install a mr2 rear glass / OEM ferrari glass. You can see a 355 in progress in one of the pictures (You can tell by the side scoop)

Well he is right in the sense that lowering the price COULD (not always) increase profit. Its grade ten math... optimizing...
but anyways, it is a nice kit and will definitely improve the look of any fiero.

lol, he beat me to it. I've been thinking the last few days about doing a 355 with scissor doors.
To those who think the price is too high, unless your time is worthless you won't be able to turn a "chunk of metal" into a working hinge and be able to recover your costs. Of course you have a head start now since someone else has done all the hard work. Do you really think Decah did this just to make you happy? I can't imagine how many hours they have in the design of this hinge. There isn't a whole lot of money in giving away things for free. This is a business for them, not a hobby.

While I as well as anybody would like to pay as little as possible for a custom designed component, ( free is always cool )I think that 1600.00 is a fair price for Lambo style doors hinges if they function perfect.
Just out of curiosity, how much is a Decah set if you bought them from the manufacture (because that's the price Bill started at before he did the mods to them)?
