I'll never do another set of these again, but here's an idea:

This is just the "back" of the assembly -- the factory outer cover goes over this.

Why won't I do another set of these again? They are labor intensive, take a ton
of time and a ton of epoxy to get just right But if someone else wants to
do something similar -- here's some inspiration for ya............

I was thinking of doing this same exact thing but didn't have the money for it and wasn't sure how easy it would be. Does the PONTIAC still light up in the middle? That was part of my plan to build them. Nice to see someone else try it first. Maybe I'll do this in the future.

Silicoan86 -- Yep -- The pontiac still lights up -- in fact, I have to find a
kind soul with a spare/trashed harness that will part with the sockets
for the center section. I'm building a custom harness for the rear of the
car, and the car was formerly an 86 SE, so it didn't have those lights
originally.

Would it be easier to get the Vette light's from someone for instance "Fibersmith" and the mod them like you want them..??
Thats what I did with mine... Here's a picture of mine BEFORE the choptop and the Widebody...

Chester -- I think I saw in one of your threads that you were working
on something custom for your car -- any pics? I showed you mine --
you show me yours

Smooth........in fact I did cut down a Twin Lakes Fiero rear panel for these.
I didn't like the way they fit the car. They were close, but not exact, so I
cut them up for use inside the factory housings.

tjfennel -- those are lights for a C3 Vette............got them from Ecklers.
I think they are for a 78 -- 82 Vette, they are called bubble taillights and
are around $89 for the set.

Thats EXACTLY like what I was scheming up the other day! I had a little different idea, but a similar concept. Mine are delaminating and I love the light up PONTIAC, but the Ferrari style lights look so cool! Someday I hope to do something similar. Very nicely done, be sure to post finished pics!

Crow -- copycat? Dunno............been working on these in
between other parts of the car for over a year

{humor} besides, they're totally different...........you have the
LED flat lights, mine are regular bulbs with a round cover.
Also, yours are spaced further apart. Other than having two
lights under the stock cover on a black background, they're
totally different
{/humor}

Ditto here... and I even posted a "working" pic & info on what I was doing last year

It's interesting that we've all thought of similar ideas independently - and that we've been taking different approaches as well! Great Minds Think Alike!
