And here I was weeks from putting her to bed for winter so I could actually finish off the 3800SC swap!! On my way home from work tonight I hit a slick patch of road due to misaligned (or something) sprinklers. The rear swung around in a flash and I regained control but not in enough time to avoid, Yep another small tree that don't move!! I just can't keep a front end on a car!!

Last month is was a deer and this month its a tree!! the deer damage could of been fixed!! This on the other hand is messy!! I'm not sure but I think the frame is bent. The window popped out at least and as you see in one pic the rear tires is nicely cocked in. I did manage to drive it home after pulling the fender off the front tire. Looks like I'll be contacting Pat again for more parts!! Hope he has something worked out on that euro front spoiler!! Cause I need it now!

On another exciting note, If you don't have one.. GO BUY A FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!! The car was fine till I was beating away at the fender and the relay for the driving lights fell on the frame. This cooked the insulation right off the exterior grade 10 wire I had running the length of the car. Had I not keep one in the car just that wire alone would of reduced the car to a pile of ashes instead of a pile of parts (which all fit in the trunk!) Talk about a freaky moment!!

Some days you just can't win I guess!! This was a nice ending to a pretty blahh day. Well as they say. Pics speak a thousand words. Who's got the duct tape and wax?????????

SIGH.. TIME for bed.. Goodnight Car.. Now what to do?????

Bummer!! at least your car is much easer to fix than mine would be.

*** I do want to say always put a FUSE at the battery before adding any wire on the car. ***

Well............

First off....Sorry about your car.
But now maybe a bit of good news. If you really want to salvage it.
Frames can be straightened.
And my GT looked alot like yours at one time.
Depending on how much work you can put into it, and of course how much damage there is, you may want
to get hold of someplace like KickHill and see what they want for a front clip.
I can't remember what it cost with delivery and all, but we welded in the whole front, including the headlight buckets.
Looked like they took a laser and cut thru the front. Even still had the radiator attatched.
Came by truck all wrapped in plastic film.
Anyway...good luck with it and glad your OK.

Good grief, how fast were you going that a 'misaligned sprinkler' caused you to go off the road?

Or are your tires in dire need of replacement?

I bet he's got 'performance' tires on which instantly turns water into ice underneath your tires...

P.S. You'd better get rid of your car. If you want, I can take it off your hands so you never have to do bodywork again...

P.P.S. Next time, do that to a honda or taurus or something.

Man that sux and I bet you felt about two feet tall cleaning up the mess too
I would not try to fix that frame. If it were me I would look for another car to start to tramsfer your good parts over to. A bent frame will never have a good wheel alinement and could bend eaier in the next crash.
Just how much of the frame was cut away to put the kit on? Could it be beefed up under there on the next car?

OK Now that I'm finally awake now. I can clear some things up. First up Mr New York "Two words, Public Transportation!" You've got to be kidding me right?? I own 4 cars and can drive anyone of them to its fullest potential. (Lifted 2 door Yukon, the 308, a 69 lemans convert, and a 87 GT -engine right now) Just cause I spin out doesn't mean I'm a danger to society.. Actually the cop that stoped to check on me told me that his car has kicked out the rear on that same spot a few times. And Just last week some idiot in a vette was doing 80+ on the same road and flipped the car because of it (its a 35mph road).

As far as the car goes... I have 95% tread left on my cooper cobras (ohh yeah) and I was doing only around 30ish when I hit the water. I know this because I had just stopped at a stop sign and then the road curved and thats where the water was, So when I hit the water I was on the gas because of the stop sign. and WEEEEE Bamooo...... I did all I could too keep it on the road going forward and thats when i slid off the pavement onto the wet grass. I know now I should of just brung the rear around instead!!

Ohh well thats whats so fun about this car.. I'd cry if it was the real thing. (maybe) But this??,, hell its fun and gives me a challenge!! The front of the car was replaced once before when I bought it. Looks like a pain so I'm going to just find a stripped car and rebuild from there. I have the 87 GT fastback I could use but I'm going to keep t stock looking and continue the north star swap into it. The frame I find will be getting the 3800SC motor now. I was going to be stripping the interior out this winter anyways.

Ryan you still after my car eh?? LOL It is cursed man.. you don't want it!! I just hope the body itself isn't!!

And well.. I Don't have very good luck with frontends!

OLD damage from a few years back.. same style road, But my throttle linkage got hung up!!

My Yukon 4 years ago (now lifted and all that fun stuff)

And the 99 Ehmmm Ford Taurus I bought for my GF (now Ex GF), Some of you might remember this excitiment

Hey without stuff like this life would be boring!!!
P.S I kinda feel sore from wearing the 4 point harness, Wonder if I would be if I wast wearing it at that speed! U just never know I guess.....

You bad luck reminds of a classis song:

"Whiskey bottles and brand new cars, oak tree your in my way."

Name the band and song.

I am sorry for your misfortune. I am sure that nose will be costly to replace.

Thats some bad luck for you. Mine could be saved after hitting a minivan in the side (his fault).

I crashed my first fiero into a tree and I was lucky to survive, that fiero was totally trashed. You can always build a new one...good luck.

'Fullest potential'? Yup, you drive them to pieces. Yikes.

DJ,

Just got your email. Seriously, I would consider starting with a better car and swap the parts you want. If you did that, you could get a decent car with good mechanicals. Maybe even a car with a motor swap. It would save you some time and money to start further ahead. Just a thought. Anyway, we had a good time today at the BBQ. Sorry you couldn't make it. We missed having you.

YEP.. I was on the gas when I shouldn't have been. I guess my fun at wheatstock made me forget how bad regular tires are on wet pavement and what a good set of slicks and wet pavement can do. Surprise fast spins compared to controlled smooth spins.
I was wondering if I should of blocked her out of the pic.. LOL So you guys would see the car instead.. Funny thing I noticed later that day.. That "thong" shes wearing, well you see the lil butterfly looking thing in the middle? Its a broken heart, and it says heartbreaker! LOL The accident happened a month after we broke up and she was getting paper work to transfer over the title to her name (yeah I'm a nice guy like that, It was her V-day present, She gets to keep it) Well I guess the car didn't want to go with her!! Thats Karma for you. I give her a car, She breaks up with me and car sees the truth and goes to the bone yard instead of with her!! LOL

Damn thing about the front end, It took me three years to locate one, and Just got this one a few months ago. I hope pats up to making another one!! I'm just kinda glad I never put any time into fit and finishing it! It went right from the mold onto the car for wheatstock! I was planning on stripping the car down to the frame again to do the swap anyways. So I guess this gives me a chance to find a frame that hasn't been in 4+ accidents already!! Thanks for all the umm kinda kind words everyone. It's no hair off my chest and just another day to me. I still sleep at night but MAN that harness did a number on my shoulders.
I'm sure glad I saved that Ferrari bra I used last time to hide the damage!! HEHEHEHE

BTW.. see the Yukon in the Taurus pic?? Thats what happens each time a car rises from the ashes with me.. Its MOD time baby!!!

That sucks, man. Glad you weren't hurt though. How fast were you going?
At least you didn't spend $$$$ after the deer accident, and then have this happen.

I guess you now have a new "Winter Project"...

Hope the re-build goes well.

I did a reenactment last night on the way home in my Yukon. I wasn't doing anything more then 30mph, if that! From the stop sign to the curve thats as fast as i could get up to safely. And I wasn't getting on it when it happened.. just under normal power. Chalk it up as another freak occurrence. I'm going to snap some pics of the place today. Yesterday you could see where the rear actually snapped around.

Oh ell.. BTW this is more like re re re rebuild LOL the kits been off the car three times since I bought it 7 years ago.
