With your approval, this will be the continuing coverage of the LT1 Stinger being painted and put together.

As you may know, the goal for this car is to have it done in time for the WOW show in Chicago 22 days from now.

Today we have the car in primer and tonight it was painted Yellow. These pictures show the car in primer and give you a chance to see the profile of this notchback Chop Top car. Here are a couple of views.

All of the chassis componets, suspension, sway bars, coolant pipes & virtually anything else that could be removed from the chassis was sent out for powdercoating and those parts came back in today. Here is what they look like.

If you like, I'll show you more tomorrow.

If we like? Of course we like! We want more! I'm trying to spot the 3 secret things, but no luck here, with these eyes, so I want more pics! I also really want to see what a finished notchback choptop looks like, so I can decide whether I'll go with a fastback or notchback when I do that and the V8 down the road (I'll be calling you in a couple years). Until then, keep coming out with the awesome stuff! You're a huge benefit to the Fiero community!

Ok, well I am probably going to sound like a real nit-picker here, but if you are going to build this into another "Super-Fiero", why not go with tubular control arms with coil-overs? Just curious.

Also, what suspension/brake mods will you be doing anyways?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this will be an awesome car, I'm just curious why you went that particular route. I only suggest the tubular control arms and coilovers because I'm a big suspension nut

Anyways, the car is looking great and I hope you keep us updated on the progress! I know it'll be an awesome car!!

I've used the tubular control arms with coil-overs before on other cars. While they are an improvement IMHO, for a street car, I don't think the benifit justifies the large investment.

I'll be using poly bushings and my Big Brake conversion with the 11.25" Vented Rotors.

Thanks for the reply, and yes, that does make sense. I figured you were using your brake upgrade though, and I think that will be a big help.

Are you going to run stock height springs? Like with any Fiero, I feel they look better lowered a bit. And maybe some KYB's along with that. You would probably have a great handling street car then.

Oh, and have you decided on rims?? Oh wait, aren't you looking for some TSW blades?? I think those would look awesome

Ok, now the yellow looks better. Nice shade, too. I wish I could make it to the show.
You should bring it down the the Oklahoma show this year

BTW, I have a question about the door windows on the choptop procedure. What do you make them out of? And do they roll all the way down (unlike the stock ones, that have about an inch sticking up)? Ok so that was 2 questions

If I remember correctly he makes the windows out of vacum formed lexan. I think they do roll all the way down. As do my windows on my fiero?? I have heard that the lexan windows tend to scratch though. But not too sure on that one.

I have been doing alot of research on them lately because If no one buys my Fiero, Then a guy who just moved here from cali and opened a body shop needs a car to turn into a show car for the cost of materials to drum up some buisness. I of coarse am talking with him about doing the Fiero.

The engine on this car will be this LT1.

The windows are scratch resistant Lexan and they do/will roll all the way down.

"3 secret things" actually Dave, it's never been done before features.

I feel confident in saying that one of those features is so radical that it would make the Chop Top look like an ad on feature.

I'll be showing you all pics. of this car as we assemble it but there will be no pics. that would give away those features until just before the WOW show.

It sure looks great. I'm looking to do an lt1 swap and this sure helps. Any chance of getting detail pics of the frame rail mods? Thats the only part I'm unclear on how to get done. Keep the pics of the engine and big brakes swaps coming.
