Thats right! The gunmetal GT is getting an attitude adjustment. Cash has been sent for the engine, ecm, and harness. It will be bolted to my 5spd for rediculas torgue. As of now, the car should be dropped off next weekend for the transplant and I should have it back in a month or so. All I have to do now is try not to watch the clock. This will be a LONG month.
I will be providing pics for this build up so, keep an eye out for this one.

Hey Chris------Make sure MTA takes a bunch of pics like I had Archie do on the LT1 build. He put them on a photo C/D for me. The more the better, you can always delete what you do not want. Seeing that MTA is closer to me than you, I guess I can shoot some pics also and keep up somewhat on your install.

I'm on my way tomorrow to pick up another GT for the same purrpose. Doing it myself though. Congrats to you Black-AZZ-GT it should be a blast to drive and your car looks amazing now it might actually be fast enough to keep up with it's own reputation :-) way to go!

There arn't many early 90s caddys running around here, let alone low mileage written off ones. I bought my 4.9 after searching all of Alberta, cheapest I found was $1000 without ecm or wiring harness ($100 extra)
I got my LT1 for a real steal, but to try and find one under $4500 is tough also.

How much did it cost you? How many miles? Cheapest 4.9s around here are about $1500
the engine was 650 with everything. It was in a running car that was T-boned 70k.

Memorial Day weekend. We started that Friday night and had it in and running by Monday night.
We did have a lot done before we dropped the cradle. We had all the brackets done, the trim work finished, the other engine prepped and ready to go, Rockrawl had done the chip a few weeks before, we had all the parts from Ed Parks, so we were ready to do a "quick change", but we did have remarkably few problems with the swap.

It won that race, look at the red light in the other lane! Does anything else matter?
It was slower than we expected with a best time of 14.81. It has something miscalculated in the chip, though. Either the transmission doesn't have the final drive we think it does (the code on the tag is not readable) or we've misfigured something else because the car would run up against the rev limiter and wouldn't shift without backing off of the throttle.
It certainly feels and acts like a low 14 second car. You can see the hard launch by the front end lift, but when you have to get out of it to make it shift it's just not going to show it's true colors. Rockrawl and I are discussing the problem now and we'll get it worked out. I have to say that other than that, his chip is a dream. The car idles beautifully, sounds great, and pulls hard with tons of torque. I was a little leary of the 4.9L and almost went with a SBC, but I'm glad we went this way and this is just a minor hiccup.

That car looks intimidating, so much so they had put up a rail dragster to race you.

That was a funny race. The only time you could get both in the same pic was at the starting line. The rail did 140-something in the quarter, too bad he redlighted.

Back on to the topic now. How bout some updated pics.
After a nice power cleaning. Removed things I dont want, like, cruise & PS and other useless junk. Added some new gaskets and a new water pump and custom fabricating.
And this will dress up the top of the engine. (Just one of my secrets going into this swap.)
